Folks, as the title explains (forgive me if i done this arse about tit) i have just bought my 4th landrover.... no matter how much they make me cry i just LOVE them!!!!!
Anywho...... im just after servicing the engine (which looks suspiciously like the engine in my BMW 530D), I have also just serviced the gearbox by replacing the filter, pan gasket and oil (Texamatic 7045E)..... is there anything else you lads think i should watch out for??
She has covered 112348mls and has a great service history.

Water in the nearside rear quarter and spare wheel well.

the engine will be similar to the 530d as it's the M57 ;)

Is she on her original gearbox? ;)
Yes! the sump pan bolts had grown into the box! lol so I had a bit of a drama then I calmed down and put the sledge hammer away..... to be fair she shifts smooth, downshifts without problem, kickdown is normal and stalls during stall test so I'm pretty confident (iv said that before though) the oil was like water!! had NEVER been changed and the filter wasn't great either, the last owners had it more for show than use and the heaviest thing I will tow is a horsebox...… do you think I should replace it? :)

Only think about replacing it when it starts to play up!

and it's usually a rebuild of the current unit that works best ;)

Well...... touching a large piece of wood it trundles on for a wee while longer can you convert to the later ZF box?.... the engine is a great unit to be fair IMO

All you can do with the L322 diesel auto box is replace the valve block that is mad of cheese. Sooner or later you will have to replace the box and the torque converter.
P38's are my thing, I steer well clear of the L322.

I'm hearing some negative noise and some positive whimpers! lol :) ah well I will try my best (with all the guidance I will get from you chaps) to keep her on the road, I'm fortunate enough that I can fix 90% of anything that explodes / leaks / fizzes or crackles :)
So far (200 + mls) since the gearbox service and engine service she hasn't missed a beat..... and fingers very tightly crossed this continues..... I have another wee Landy coming soon (300tdi discovery) to park along side the big amazon! :)
Thanks again guys, your advice to date has been greatly appreciated
