Anyone have any ideas....

2006 Td4 auto, drives fine, but when revs reach 3000rpm the power stops and the orange engine management light comes on, when I take my foot off the gas the light goes out,

depending on driving, the autobox hasnt always changed gear before 3000rpm and therefore it doesnt get a chance to move up a gear as I have to release the accelerator once reaching the dreaded 3000rpm ????

on a few occasions I am "lucky" and it is nearer 3500rpm,

any help, thoughts would be appreciated,

Car is booked into the stealers on wednesday of next week !!

I have exactly the same fault develop over the last week on my '04 manual TD4. My Rovacom reads the fault code of P0244 - Variable Nozzle Turbo.
I'm suspecting either the turbo modulator valve or the turbo itself.
I think whats happening is the ECU is unable to control the boost and cuts the fuel, hence the power loss.

Parts cost for a modulator valve is about £45 (dealer) or Turbo is about £550 (eBay).
Looks a pig to do though, so I suspect if you don't DIY, you may need to sit down when they give you an estimate.

look towards the turbo if its lacking power, , but ask yourself the question ,,?,, what sensor gives the turbo boost control valve the signal in the first place ? (map)

another thing is,, make sure the turbo vane actuator is free to move

Had the same problem with two different Freelanders. Each time, the in-line fuel pump (one behind the wheel arch) was faulty. Changed the pumps and filter and problem solved! Problem could also be caused by a damaged/split/crushed hose.

thanks for the replies guys, its now limited to 2000rpm, but its in the stealers tomorrow, this will be my first dealings with Landrover, what shold I expect, for anyone in scotland its Taggarts Landrover in Motherwell !!!

Cheers
