What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just crimp a new ring terminal on the wire and stick a new plug in it and stop being a skinflint !
I don't know how to crimp lol. I will get round to it one day, maybe...

This what I did for now. It's not pretty and I have no way of telling if it actually works. But I have faith :D

I chemical metalled the wire on too, that was worst, just standing there looking at what I should be doing for 15minutes
Got it all back together with refurbed inlet manifold, non leaky gaskets, new ecu temp sender (have spare brown if anyone needs one), new oils in whole transmission and grease. Good bloody clean on the engine.

Some people say the doozles are sluggish - mine ain't anymore! :p:)
Thing is getting perky already

And one for Keith, with nice shiny pipes not protected in oil ;)

I didn't know chemical metal was a conductor of electricity, it's just Epoxy poxy resin.
Total waste of time as the engine will start OK with just 5 good glow plugs. should have just put the stump back in and taped the wire. Better still buy a set on new glow plugs.

SORN doesn't seem to be the problem, the issue is no tax and this could be weeks away yet and I can't afford to tax another with selling one (of four) off the drive..
Wires crossed,I was talking about transferring a reg number, no problem if the vehicle gas been taxed up until the date of storning. If there had been a break then that's when the problems start.

Well it was still dark when I got up this morning( that’s just wrong):(
Hooked up trailer and of course you guessed it 1 indicator not working... poo:(
Fixed and on the road before 7.:)

Just got back home (2pm)and although early I am having a beer :D
Because for all the waiting/paperwork and more paperwork just because DVLA don’t list the KW on a V5. I have a result.:)

Two nice shiny new plates:)
Try explaining why he can’t find info on LR engines of this size:oops:
He asks what car it came from, I said it came new out of a crate:D
Finally the expert understood what a SBC 383 was and off he toddled.
I was sweating a bit as DVLA messed up the V5 engine number change and put in 22 instead of ZZ, but that thankfully didn’t seem an issue:)

So I got a good run today, but couldn’t give it the hooligan (that it needs sometime:)) for obvious reasons.
Now I will need to sort out the budgies that have appeared under the bonnet and a stupid SRS airbag fault?

Whatever I class today as a good day in my Range Rover world:)

@mikieman

No comb involved, coffee was more important than looking good:eek: at that time in the morning.

And yes first bit is a way too put a smile on peeps. The second bit is the business end of it. Just try to lighten the mood and be positive.

The original conductor is still there in place only held by epoxy around it. They aren't an issue yet but we will see the state of it compared to the others when I change them. They seem cheap ones but okay for now cold has never been an issue for this vehicle it seems to like it

Went to the garden center, doris bought some pretty flowers, so did her mate, returned with no dramas.

But the real news is that I have had a refund off Ashcroft transmissions for my exchange VCU, £90 when I was expecting £75. Only posted it last friday so result.
All in all very happy with their service. :D:D:D
Hope to God I don't need to buy anything else off them though, spent enough on my pride and joy/fecking bitch (delete as required) for a couple of years.

Anything with tits or tyres will cost money:D:D

75+VAT

Any squeaking? I mean buttercup not the Doris.

No nasty noises this time, (other than the inevitable doris type conversation going on when your foolish enough to have two of them in the same place) (I didn't say that , alright) I am expecting a delivery of rear calipers on Tuesday, so will swap them out anyway.

£75 + VAT ............................... DOH, that makes sense now :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D:D

If it's seized, it's seized.
One of two things are the most common.
1. Bearing/Bush at one end has collapsed so as soon as you energize the armature, it just clamps itself to the stator magnets
2. One or both end bearings has collapsed and locked up.
Either way, chances of a hammer fixing it are slim.
The hammer fix can work for sticking/worn brushes.

I had this happen not long ago to me. I cleaned out all the carbon inside and it worked flawlessly for just over a month. Then it went naughty on me again. Got the sm refurbished ok for a week or so, then naughty again. Anyway I bought a new one and it didn't start up - same symptoms. No voltage going to the control pin when the ignition key turned. Made up a jump cable - still wouldn't start. Put new keys in the keyfob, still wouldn't start. Put the jumper cable across the terminals on the starter - BRRRRUM! No problem since. Oh and no faults, lights, bleeps or anything when it wouldn't start.
Bizarre car :p

@Mukiwa mine goes like a turbo since plenty of power. Just put a screwdriver or spanner across the terminals to jump it if your not frightened of sparks ;) My
Problem was deducing it was the starter, had a hunch but evidence suggested alternator/earths. Atleast it didn't cost anything exvept time and scrubbing black of my hands for two days, looks nice all sprayed up
In engine bay too :)

I know the feeling. When mine failed I had a burned out fusebox, leaking coolant return pipe due to PO(s!) using incorrect coolant (front one) and the starter simultaneously being intermittant! Talk about Sherlock Holmes and deducing things! :D

When I took the bumper off to fit the tow-bar I noticed some rusting where the cross-member joins the bracket that goes up to the chassis rail (to the right of the towing eye).
Not terrifically bad for a 19YO car I suppose?
I guess its time to clean it up with a cup brush and see how bad it is and paint it over before I put the bumper back on.

Reverse-parking by braille can commence pretty soon.
