Hi I’m new here and hoping someone or anyone will have an idea of why my
2012 evoque automatic has a fairly bad jerk once the car is hot and when pulling away from being at a stop. And on occasion it seems to be slightly rough changing down a gear!
I’ve only owned it a few months it’s very low mileage for its age being a 2012 only has 36,000 miles. I’ve already had the egr valve replaced.
And regarding the jerk I took it to Land Rover 2 weeks ago for a drivetrain software update. ( that was apperantly realised 4 yrs ago).
Upon this it does seem to not be as harsh now but is still there on occasions!
I’ve got it booked in again with Land Rover on the 30th.
But was hoping someone could shed some light on possible causes!

Transmission oil level ok? assuming you can check it...

I'd be inclined to say TQ.

But as i've discovered "on another car" even a faulty TPS sensor can cause the tranny to shift like crap.


Put it on Diagnostics and see if it throws any codes at ya.

I haven’t yet checked the oil level in the gearbox but will check that in a bit

It hasn’t thrown up any dash warning lights
Apart from when the egr valve failed a few weeks ago.
I guess I’ll just see what Land Rover comes back with on the 30th and hope the issue is resolved.
But will go and check the transmission oil just hoping it’s something that I won’t need a mortgage to pay for it
I will keep you up dated to what happens

I don't know the auto box on your car but there is unlikely to be a dipstick and most auto boxes need the engine running and the correct temperature to check the oil level.

If you've only had it a few months, is it still under a warranty of some type? If so touch nothing, until you clear it with warranty provider.
 
All Auto's have a filter of some kind..
then that would be my first check to see what kind of crud or metal that might be there.
Then are them transmission a electric shift or a vacuum shift modual.
I had my truck a few years ago act up and it was the speed sensor in the rear diff

It only came with 3 months warranty , it wasn’t through Land Rover, luckily the egr valve was done under the warranty.
But it ran it about 3 weeks ago. Typical.

I’ll have a look to see if I can locate any type of filter on it.
And see if I can see anything unusual.
I keep thinking about the rear diff, I had a freelander once and the bushes had gone on the diff and used to knock. But this seems as though the gear engages a fraction too late. If that makes sense? My wife said she was driving today, and it done whilst she was actually stationary in traffic
 
Thankyou guys you’ve all been really helpful and given me a few options I can check myself. I will keep you all updated on progress and hopefully a fixed solution.
So glad I decided to join the group.
Do a google search....also you tube alot of good info,tips, and how to do's

Or see what Land Rover says once they have plugged it in.....then get a real Range Rover.....dammit done it again :D:D:D
