Hoping someone has some advice on this one. I have an old after-market mobile phone cradle (was put in by a company that is no longer around back in 2006) that I now want to remove from my 2003 Discovery 2. There are two cables that go to/from the cradle - can I just cut these cables, tuck them out of the way and then remove the cradle? I expect it should be as easy as that but just wanted to be sure. The phone set-up also includes an antenna that was affixed to the windscreen.

I'm guessing there will be a car kit in there somewhere and these wires break into the speakers wires for the phone to use on a call. If so you won't be able to just cut them or you will lose your speakers.

Okay, there is a small microphone as well just adjacent to the driver's sun visor. Does that mean I have to trace the wires (two from/to cradle and one connected to microphone) back to the speakers (wires disappear under centre console and headlining) and disconnect them there? I was hoping I could just cut the buggers! Ah....

The cradle is very likely to have power & an earth within 1 of the cables - for phone charging.
So beware if you just cut it, you could short the 2 together.
If the fuse blows, at least you'll know which is involved - lol.
If it's a good kit there will also be a cable(s) to the stereo to mute the stereo input to the speakers and ( possibly) transfer the phone output to the speakers.
incorrect tampering & your stereo will be permanently muted.

Okay, thought this would be easy. It was a quality kit installation - looks so old hat now! Guess I need to go to an auto electrician to have it properly removed?
