L322 Front parking sensors

My L322 front parking sensors don't work. According to the manual if a fault is detected by the PDC ECU in one sensor then all 4 are disabled. Thus I cannot listen at each one to ascertain which is one faulty. The manual also says that if a fault is detected the PDC led will flash and sound a 3 second warning tone, however, mine is not doing this ! The front internal sounder is OK. Is there a way I work out which one is at fault without paying the garage to use their diagnostic kit ? Thanks.
 
BUY ONE SENCOR THEN FIT IT TO LEFT SIDE SEE IF ITS CURED. THEN IF NOT FIT IT TO THE NEXT ONE AND SO ON TILL ITS CURED
FLEEBAY DO CHEAP ONES.
 
But, But, But....... Without the reassuring "beep-beeps" the corners of the vehicle are impossible to judge if you have only been driving for less than 10 years.

In case you have forgotten, you were given the answer to this query in your other thread, about the same problem.

Personally, I had the irritating things switched off. I find using my sight much easier to use for parking, than my hearing.
 
Thanks for your suggestions guys. I have been driving this car for 10 years without needing the front sensors to park it properly! However, I thought I might try to get them working (1) as a challenge and (2) if I sell it then this fault won't need to be disclosed. I have now tried listening to each front sensor in turn (using the microphone memo app on my phone). There is no clicking sound from any of the front sensors (all 4 on the rear bumper click). So, I'm back to square one !!

Maybe try diagnostics.

from what i understand, if you have a failed sensor the park assist closes off. you have two options one is get a sensor and try each position in turn.. but as above if there are two or it's loom fault then you'll be wasting your time. I understand that the rear wiring to the bumper can get nicked and then corrode.

The other option is plug it in to diagnostics and it will tell you which has failed. It's rather ironic Gold Rover suggesting diagnostics she got her knickers in a twist on my suggestion of diagnostics.

Those are really the two options but it's pointless investing in diagnostics if you are going to sell.

Mind you.......

.... you could get an IID Gap tool and I'll buy it off you when you sell the L322 :D

Make sure you get one that does the 2006 on SC :D:D:D
 
So, I’ve now tested each front sensor and checked its wiring. All found to be working/OK. I accessed the front 2 outer sensors quite easily via the wheel arch. The 2 inner sensors I gently prised out from the front with a small bladed screwdriver quite successfully. I then removed one of the known good rear inner sensors by pushing it out from the back of the rear bumper. This is easy by just reaching up underneath. Thus I was able to plug in each front sensor in turn to test them. No front or rear bumper removal necessary ! Since I have no flashing LED on the PDC switch nor any 3 second audible warning tone, I can only assume that my front sensors have been switched off at some earlier time via the IDS – do you agree?
 
WOW !!!! - I had no idea there were hidden codes on this model ! Having looked at a few websites (and there are loads) I find this absolutely fascinating. Thanks for pointing it out. Any idea how to reset the front parking sensors from this please ?
 
They are there but not found much to change of any use in our 2011 sat nav screen. Can say I can’t remeber seeing anything about parking sensors.
But there is also hidden menus in the dash (on 2011 not sure of earlier) Controlled by steering wheel/stalk buttons.
If you do get in becarful you don’t change stuff you don’t understand, if you do get in.

I have a gap diagnostics unit and can switch these on and off in the car configuration file (2002 L322) a decent diagnostics tool should be able to interrogate the configuration file and turn them back on
