Suppose I got up one day and decided I wanted to tratter from John o'groats to land's end in a week. I quickly set up a just giving page for a charitable cause and my friends could follow my journey on Facebook. How would I actually do it? obviously I'd drive up to John o'groats before I started, but what would I do, where would I stay, how could I plan the trip to make it interesting. Would I have to be really sociable?

It would be a massive challenge for me. How would you do it?

I've actually got one of those in the shed. I got it to practice quick 1-1 psychological therapy models delivered within half an hour. The poor woman had to pretend to be depressed, anxious, stressed, suicidal ... She's more deflated now than she ever was.

@Mackers
Mrs has done this in a series 1 so all is possible.
Now this was done by not using motorways & was on a historic endurance rally over 3days.
Get a general route then when at the top go round the NW500 route in Scotland for some views.
Never plan stops as some times you may stop longer for sightseeing.
Enjoy

This is all getting a bit worrying...
Don't worry. I didn't complete the course. If I was still working I wouldn't have joined this site. Time to play the fool and talk a load of crap generally now :):):):) I can put the other hat on though. I know quite a lot about mental health and helping others.

Is anyone doing the path well trodden this year? I don't know if I fancy doing it on my own?

Fuel stops are few and far between in the very North of Scotland so make sure you fill up whenever you see a pump.
Down to Inverness is quicker but round by Durness/ Ullapool is fantastic scenery.
I frequently do Inverness to Derby in 7 hours driving time (A9, across to Glasgow, M74, M6 then across from Holmes Chapel) and Exeter is about 3-4 hours from here. (Staying on the M6/M5 would probably save an hour). I can't say that that route fills me with joy as a 4x4 route though so better to plan lots of meandering through the Lake District, maybe a jaunt into North Wales. I have rarely gone beyond Plymouth so can't tell you much about the Southern leg.
