This is a HAPPY post of someone who has just bought a 2006 Freestyle TD4 manual Freelander with 1 former keeper 146k on the clock and a wad of bills receipts showing it was looked after.I am taking delivery of the vehicle tomorrow from a dealer in Castleford and He assures me it was all checked over by a 4 x 4 centre, mot'd and serviced new tyres all round new towbar fitted 2018 last owner for 10 yrs and overall looks stunning with silver paintwork.I must admit I was a bit frightened by all the bad publicity regards the vcu and window faults etc so I am going to play safe and remove the propshaft and send the vcu off for test at Bell Engineering as a precaution but overall I'm buzzing and thought I would share my excitement with You all.Hope my posts on here continue to be upbeat and not too many HELP calls, all the best Al.

Welcome to the club :)
I have a 2006 Freestyle, little over 54K on the clock (profile pic is of an older L series I had). I get you re the windows...neither rear ones work but that doesn't bother me!

I'm sure it'll be fine. If its on new rubber and you get the VCU checked over, the only other thing you might consider is a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) - will tell you if the tyre pressures deviate.

Thanks for reply how do I get a TPMS ? thanks Alan
You can buy them from your local supplier or global auction house of choice.

They come as replacement dust caps for the wheels (possibly some other gubbins there as well) and a display unit for the dash. If you Google "CAREUD U912 Auto Wireless TPMS", I believe that is what fellow Kiwi LZer @htr uses and its been fine for him for a few years. If I go back to 4WD, it'll be the first thing I buy having, I believe, lost my 4WD system due to a tyre that was low.
