P38A Speedo Mileometer Damaged Pixels

Hi All,

The display on the speedo that shows the mileage and trip computer etc the pixels are damaged so cannot see trip etc.

I am aware there is a kit for HVAC but not for the mileometer display.

Any ideas for a fix?

I believe you cannot simply swap the instrument cluster without programming it into the BECM.

You're sure it isn't the bulbs that light it up?

You can swap the instrument cluster and it will work but it'll take the higher mileage of whatever is on the cluster or the BECM. If you need it reprogramming then @Rick-the-Pick isn't far from you and what he doesn't know about BECMs hasn't been discovered yet so he can overwrite the details in the BECM if you cross his palm with silver.

I don't think so, not taken it apart yet but when I had my other RR-P38 there were no bulbs behind the small display, part of the screen works it shows the mileage but bottom is patchy like it is pixelated.

I can check though but agro taking dash apart done it too many times!!

Plenty of repair specialists about. No knowledge of the company, so cannot give you a recommendation, but these guys are in Hampshire which is not too far. Might be worth speaking to them.

Check the back light bulbs first of all.

It's not agro taking the instruments out. 10-15 min max.

1. Remove 4 screws holing lower panel
2. Remove 4 screws holing instrument surround
3. Remove 4 screws holding instrument cluster
4. Unplug cluster.
5. Replace bulbs

Hi. as above.. check the bulbs...when dark with lights on is it any clearer.?

ok thanks it is damaged eitherway whether lights are on or off from memory. Will do a bit more digging.
