Hi folks,
Just bought a second hand discovery 2. Having problems with the immobiliser thought I fixed it by unhooking the BCU and plugging back in, everything worked, took it for a drive and assumed problem solved. Tried again later and same thing, fob doesn’t work, immobiliser kicked in again! What’s the best course of action ?

Hi, you'll have to unlock with the fob or remobilise it with EKA before other things... first of all you should figure out why the fob is not working, do you have only one or both are not working?

Came with only one key/fob, no security card. Going to try and get EKA tomorrow from Land Rover customer services. Tried 1515. If I unhook the battery for a few hours and try again with the fob it works but then stops after a while??

That 1515 thing is complete tommyrot whe it comes to a D2... give a good charge to the battery first if that disconnection thing helped untill now.

the discovery immobiliser is a match box size box deep in the dash.
my 2006 v8 would start then cut out then not start.
inside the immobiliser box i found a very small relay.. 10 mmx 10 mill had burnt out pure fluke find.
waited 3 weeks for a scrapper to offer me the box, removed the relay resolder the used one in thick specks needed.
no need to recode ecu. hope this helps.

On the D2, that isn't the case. The immobiliser is built onto the BCU circuit board and very tightly integrated into the operation of the BCU.
The small box deep in the centre console can be found on the D1.
then that is where my experience and limited knowledge ends.
hope you get this sorted brian. best wishes garry.

I did initially give the battery a good charge. I’ll get the EKA tomorrow (hopefully). I did buy 2 discovery’s, the other is for parts but apparently does run. Not even seen it yet. Good idea?

After lots of unplugging BCU, ECU, unhooking battery It opened with the fob and fired up. Took it for a short drive, everything working... Got out, tried to lock it and fob wouldn’t work and it didn’t start again....
How did you get on with your problem bcu , got the same problem
