That's cheating, but then again.........Makes me wonder if work would complain about using the 50T crane to lift the body off the chassis on the 90?

It is a shame I don't get it going again. May be 1 day. 88" full race spec 300tdi charged cooled.

It does. I've quit projects before and later down the line I wish I'd stuck with it. This one owes me nothing- yes I spend on it but never what I can't afford. I must finish this one
 
These are a different project to the likes of a track car or a make nice road car project, you know in the back of your mind that a road/track car is only ever going to be just that, but with a Land Rover, the whole driving experience is opened up and there is a sense of adventure that comes with the finale of the build.

I remember hitting a couple of really low points during my build, got to the point where I just wanted to scrap it I was so sick of seeing it in the back of the barn tormenting me, but look at me now 6yrs on and several thousand kilometers of both tarmac and the rough mud and ruts that come with pay and play as well as hundreds of miles of green lanes at home and abroad :)

Think of the lanes you will cover next year within 20 mile drive from you.
Then think of the crazy people you will meet. All will ask questions & then this is the part that makes you happy you continued with any project.
Days are getting longer from the end of the week & every one will be feeling better.
 
Thanks gents. Feel much better with the doom and gloom of the winter this year than last! Probably due to getting in the gym more and looking after myself a bit better lol
 
As mentioned I thought if I use existing crush tubes I'd have better chance of lining up. I'd bent them a bit yanking at the chassis so made good and cleaned.
I then went to work. Bit scary but we are there so I'm off to grab my welder from farm to put a roof on it.

Checking the alignment of the crush tubes was easy, you only needed to test fit them up against the upper rear shock mount ;)

Good to see you are plugging away again :)

String lines, old fashioned but so god damn easy and readily available when you need them :)

Hope you had a good Christmas and don't get too wasted on your new years celebrations :D

I have a few remaining chassis bits yet. I need to sort out the tank cradle bracket. Cut out replace with a revised model lol.
I also have that totally rotten underside section around the outrigger to figure out.

Not sure if a weld on the rigger itself is a good idea. Bit baffled with how to deal with it. I think behind it is a bit crispy and there's that little stuck on square you quoted earlier.

I'll fab up te boot supports at some point too.

I didn't do anything on it today bar cleaned it all out again and swept the area clean
 
And here is tomorrow's task. Firstly I have to box back in what I have cut out I.e. the single skin. Grind back the welds then fabricate the card model in metal and stick it on top.

I'm lost with your templates but they look interesting, how was the pizza BTW?

So annoying mate. I just started getting my mojo back as it was coming to an end. So much crackle. The upside down welds are a complete c6nt too. It's solid enough though. The template is the overplate assembly for the fuel tank cradle bolts. I'll knock those welds out clean hopefully. Nice position and inner fillet which is my strongest. I thought I'd do the cradle prior to the outrigger. Any clever advice for the rigger repair? I think the rigger itself is fine
