hi guys i need to change my regulators and mechanism on the drivers window and one rear window does anyone have any good guides or procedures to follow.
cheers peeps.

It's a pretty straight forward job imo. The Haynes manual has it covered. My recommendation is to get a new regulator sans motor and fit your existing motor to it. Nice and easy and regulators are about £25. A number of people on here have done just the cables for about £8 but it's too much of a faff for me.

Just make sure when you get the new assembly in that you have the cable overlap the right way round otherwise the first time you lower the window it'll snap.

its very straight forward, remove door card, lower window then slacken clamps holding glass, remove glass, slacken 4 bolts holding regulator and remove regulator, just had mine apart today, i did a repair about 8 years ago with a bike brake cable its now frayed so i ordered complete regulator from ebay, about £25, all in it will take about 1/2 hr to replace once it arrives

Agree with John t.
Easy to do although I always manage to rip the door card sealing membrane.
I always buy with the motor as they are cheap.
I have just done one £32.00 delivered.
Bank on changing one every couple of years.

cheers guys i have succesfully replaced one front mechanism and changed old motor over. and replaced both rear regulators with motors today all windows now work a dream just awaiting a couple of new switches then were pukka.
one more issue. my electric sunroof gets jammed which causes the glass to go squif.and stops.
now am i right in thinking that there is only one cable that rotates around the mechanism. if this is the case would it be just dammaged cogs or runners which i have a kit to replace but still use the existing cable. and is it simple enough to do?

I've never worked on a sunroof but there are loads of threads here about them. A quick search should bring them up.

When removing / dismantling the old regulator I found the door latch cable seems to pass behind the unit. Do I need to disconnect this cable before re-installing the new regulator.?

There are many threads about window cables breaking so is it worthwhile removing door card and covering the cables in oil/grease and whilst you're at it anything else that should be lubricated with the door cards removed?
