My sons girl fiends dad (a french farmer) will only buy a car from someone he knows, limits what you can drive, but normally not likely to get ripped off

I understand your anger/fustration but how did he diddle you...you paid him and drove away with the vehicle...
Anyway. He sounded like a nice chap. He said he was only selling it because it was hard hooking his caravan handle onto the tow bar because of the spare wheel. I believed him. I'll put it all right. It's everything and more he had me over with. His shot of the interior to exclude the sagging roof could've only been captured if he'd twisted his arms above his head from the top right hand corner of the driver's door. All I need to do now is stop looking at it as a process of over-investing in something that'll never be worth what I end up spending on it, and start seeing the journey as me spending on it because I love it. In the latter frame of mind, I find that I don't feel so crap about being 'had'.

they aint going down in value and most till you fettle them to your requirements are worn out corroded shouldnt really have past an mot vehicles
I asked him five times over half an hour to 'please just let me know if there's anything I should know about it". He went bright red after the cash had been exchanged and decided to tell me one thing that he said he'd forgot earlier, i.e. the fuel gauge is knackered. He said he'd had land rovers all his life. He knew full well the car needed about 1500 spending on it, and he didn't want to spend it. I've since been told that a couple of more knowledgeable landy people had seen it. He was offered 8 and 8.5k based on their appraisals. That's what it's turned out to be worth if you say it's worth 10k in good nick (8k). He alos said there was only one oxidisation bubble on the rear door. There's loads lol. It goes on, but I feel better for getting it off my chest. I just wish people weren't like that.

Sorry to hear about your experience of buying a Landy. It sounds like the seller capitalised on your lack of experience in buying land rovers, without being rude. It’s something you’ll be wary of next time. Unfortunately buying privately has little protection unless you want to pursue a civil claim but look at what eBay can do to help.
They can't read other posts about work done to vehicle since bought...
I meant you not ebay...he's done work as posted on here before this thread was started you may not have read...ebay won't be interested now...

EBay will be very interested in a seller claiming item not collected to avoid paying fees. They'll chase him for it.
Won't help Mackers much other than maybe a certain sense of satisfaction.
Yes I agree but what I meant was that the vehicle in question has had work done on it since bought so can now not be subject to a claim through ebay for a refund as a member was suggesting...how do I know it's had work done!!
This is true. It's up to them. They know I have the receipt the wife wrote out and he signed it. Obviously I have the logbook etc, the tratter's sat on my drive ... Ebay know I bought it, I put it through as a buy it now ... He gave permission to the garage to give me all the restoration pics of which there are hundreds. This was an agreement at point of sale. He's obviously told them they can't share them with me now. It's a shame, but it happens all the time. The Ebay online chat employee wasn't interested, but another was when I talked to them recently about something else. Blue Beasty's right. I believe they may be looking into it now.
Ebay have the chat record where the first employee before I had to do the work fobbed me off. They also accept that as soon as the seller retracted the sale, I (or any buyer) has no tabs to press other than one to let them know they did or didn't get their money back.

You could say youve been ripped off/treated like a dimlow, but nearly all that is stuff that you would be putting right in the next couple of years anyway.
As it stands you just need to get on and do all the routine repairs sooner rather than later.

What are you dramatising now? The history of a vehicle and it's restoration is nice to keep in a file (if it's available). Not necessarily for profitable provenance, just as a history. If you buy or sell cars without placing no value on service history, work/part receipts, etc. then it is you that's the amatuer, so don't scoff at me as such. What's wrong with wanting a historical photographic library of the car. It's my property. It was included in the sale. If you don't have a CV, a record of your childhood immunisations, or other records, then I can understand your retort. As it happens you have and can clearly see the value of the same, so go and have a mint tea and take a deep breath.
But you said you didn't get them the garage refused...what the fuc k has my medical record to do with anything..the only dramatist on this thread is you...
can you not maybe just relax and read and think about other people's opinions on your threads... remember you started it...others will pitch in..you might not agree with THEIR opinion...

you bought a 26 year old vehicle at 10 most are past it, when you buy a 2-3 year old car you expect it to not need any work,but after 26 years unless its fully restored and priced accordingly peoples idea of reasonable varies,stil shocks are cheap so are brakes a rotten chassis not so
