Hi All,
I recently had an engine failure on the TD5, yeah cracked the block, not great I know, I have been able to source a complete import motor and would like to ask the forum if they know how to read the engine numbers and provide me some detail on it
The imported engine number is 10P049728 so I would like to know year of manufacture etc, The place I am getting it from says less than 100 000km's on this motor, I must be honest it looks pretty good and hoping to drop it into the 110 this weekend

Hi, the only relevant thing is that it's a 10P engine which was fitted to modells from 99 up to 2001 and it had Eu2 management so if your engine was 15P(or beyond) the 10P engine will not work well with that ECU cos it has different injectors, timing and fuel management... unless you swapped the blocks only... if your defender was built before 2001 you are OK but you'll have to save the injector codes in the ECU memory or if you swap them put them in the same order
