In response to your initial question whereas it is no really to my tastes, you can get spay paints suitable for plastics which would easily change the black to brown, although I do not know how durable it would be.
 
The translation for that is being used as a proper land rover rather than fashion accessory.
There are reasons between those extremes. I'm filthy cargo area (three dogs), like old things (an old classic is hardly a chelsea tractor), and revolt against really smooth, luxury, fast warm cars.

Has anyone seen a hood like that before?
There are a few things I like about that 90, though the colour scheme is not for me, I'm hoping to go for Marine Blue with sand hood and black highlights (rubber mats rather than carpets).
Not sure what the hairy fella is for??
 
Yes. Read ont tinternet that all plastic can be painted in an interior. People who have plastic windows have them sprayed.
