First Landy P38 mods/plans

Posted the pics in the wrong section!! Now moved here. 2 new brackets plus 2 cleaned and painted old brackets fitted with new bolts Bit of slip on them so they’ll come out next time and a coat of paint to help protect them. Side panels of bumperstripped. New badge fitted. Very pleased with tonights work.

So not as much progress this weekend as hoped. Still bumper reinstalled and not rubbing on the tailgate. Rub strips fitted. Still the leak around the pollen filters, pick up the leather and PS pipe to change.

Another busy weekend sealing the pollen filter housings and everything else in sight. Lots of crap cleaned out and new foam fitted to the scuttle at the same time.

Hoping to be the end of the drips on the carpet.

So this morning I swapped out the leaking PS pipe. New rad clips and banjo dowty washers at the same time. Refilled with dexron 3 atf and checked for leaks after bleeding the system. Point to note. Mine had early spec pipes with only one flexi. Somehow I ended up with a 97 on pipe with 2 flexi ends. Still fits the earlier models so no issue on change over.

It’s getting there. Still a bit of a shed in places. I just don’t take pictures of those bits.

Braided lines arrived today with black caliper paint.

I’ve begun to sort the brakes out with the braided line. NS rear first and paint the caliper at the same time. I was going to do the over axle lines as well but when I started to undo the nut the line started to twist. I can’t find my flair tool so until I can I won’t be changing them just incase.

Continued tonight with the rear lines. All bled up both sides.

Final caliper finished ready to go back on the front. And the manifold heat shield I drew up has been fabricated and is now back with me for assembly. Just need some insulation for the inside.

So i didn’t go for the cream interior. Figured I’d wait until a tripple black one comes up. However something did pop up on the bay cheapy cheap. Now with late spec doorcards to replace mine which were pretty knackered. 2 down. 2 to go. Front braided lines also fitted and annoying pedal issue solved on start up. Interim service and MOT passed no bother.

General maintenence tonight. New waterpump with metal impellor fitted. Hopefully sort that slow water leak.

Yes mate. Be doing the new (to me) bonnet and paint correction of said bonnet soon

As it’s you mate I’ll add the small everyday jobs done recently.

New ac and aux belt
New idler aux bracket
New idler damper
New rad top hoses
Replaced all jubalee clips with stainless steel items on coolant and boost pipes
New o ring for water transfer pipe below stat housing
New viscous fan
New Drag link track rod

Still looking for a good used plastic engine cover front piece for non egr dse. The zip ties do look naff but will do for now

Bonnet to be done this weekend hopefully
