Disco 2 SLS warning light ... on coil springs???

My dear old manual D2 is normally very well-behaved, but this problem has me and others scratching their heads. The car was converted to coil springs before I bought it 7 years ago, but in recent months, the SLS warning light started coming on whenever I went around my first roundabout. Switch off the engine and restart and all is well until the next such right-hand corner. More recently, the warning light has come on when going round left-hand corners as well, but still resets when the engine is switched off and on again. I can see no sign of ride-height sensors still being fitted (assuming I'm looking in the right places), so what could be triggering the SLS warning light to come on after all these years? Has the ECU lost its "coils" programming, perhaps? Any and all help greatly appreciated.

You need someone with some diagnostics I’d have thought.

I'd agree with @AdamD1 there. You're going to need a compatable code reader to find out what's going on.

That's part of the problem - I asked my local garage to run diagnostics on it, and no fault codes showed up. I'm wondering if removing the SLS relay will help, since I have no SLS anymore. Just thought of that, so could try tomorrow, unless someone says, "No".

After having to call out a recovery man I quickly bought a nanocom. His device seemed to cover a lot but it’s not a patch on the nanocom, I’m pretty certain I could have been on the road within a few minutes had I bought it when I got the car as I’d intended to.

Hmmm. I'm about to put the old girl up for sale but want to sort out the two problems I have with her before passing her on to someone else, so don't want to go to the expense of a nanocom at this stage. Does anyone in the Edinburgh area have one and be prepared to help me with a little diagnosis? - for a fee, naturally.

Both my last D2 and my current one have the sls warning and both are on springs. Whoever did the conversions, didn't switch off the sensors. Mine only comes on occasionally if driving slowly in traffic or crawling round a car park looking for a space. Doesn't bother me but a nanocom should sort it.

Thanks, BobDog. It's kinda what I suspected, but why it should start happening at least 7 years after the conversion to coils was done is a bit of a mystery. I'll have someone check the settings and reprogramme if necessary, hoping that the reprogramming will cure the problem and stick (not revert to thinking it's on Air again)
