In the post in the morning, post office not open in the afternoon

After having a mission trying to unplug the air pipe, I ended up having to break the collet out of the fitting. The R clips have rusted & swollen inside the plastic, trying to pull them out just snapped them off (thanks to wammers for telling me to get new clips!) The bottom of the bag is now free, but the top is still solid, as it still has half a clip inboard. Given in for tonight, off to buy a crow bar tomorrow & some long handled needle nose pliers. Think im just gonna have to break it out. Anyone else had a problem releasing the top mount? How did you do it in the end?
This is how the pipe was fitted, surely not right as you can't see what you're doing with the other airline in the way?

It's not unusual for the top end to be difficult to remove, a crow bar may do it or you may have to break it out. It will be rust that is holding it, so some waxoil or such like may come in handy.
The other air line can usually be pushed out of the way, put it over the top when you put it back.

Make sure you have some plasters at the ready .

i cant afford them i own a P38

Yep use a big crowbar and lever the top of the spring against the body. Takes a LOT of force but is just rust

And get a wire coat hanger and make a wee hook in the end. Ideal for pulling out the R clips as not much room for long nose pliers

I used a tent peg puller to get the top R clip out. All it did was break off the end of the clip. Then I soaked it in Plus Gas and used a pair of long reach bent nose pliers. They seem to be able to get into the space around the bag. I could twist the remaining pin to work it loose.

Had the same problems as you freeing it too. My crowbar did not give enough pressure so used crow bar and big thick chisel. That finally shifted it. Don't forget to clean up the rust and think about giving it a lick of Hammerite.

So far every clip Ive pulled has broke!

Yep not unusual. Hence the BIG crowbar

All done, pleased with myself even if I am freezing cold & soaking wet. Will ache like fook tomorrow! Thanks all for the advice, I'm sure I'll be back with my next job shortly

Yes they are definitely knackered, looks like they were made in 99 if that's the date code I can see on the left one so done the time.
and I thought mine were bad
