In line heaters

Where is the most efficient place to locate one of these inline 120v heaters?

On a 120volt American generator

I would have thought in the heater pipe work as that circulates round the engine all the time and is not reliant on the thermostat opening for flow.
you could also add an electric pump as well.

Usual place is in the bottom hose into the water pump inlet. Then the inbuilt pump pushes the warmed coolant through the engine and round the heater/bypass pipes. The setpoint should be around 60 degrees so the thermostat stays closed.

Some of them have extra relays to switch on the heater fan. So you can set the heater to hot and demist the windows/warm the interior as well.

It depends on which type of heater it is. If it has an inbuilt pump it can go in the heater pipe work as long as it is lower than the heater to allow it to vent properly. If it is only a heater element it requires gravity circulation to flow so should be set as low as possible with no restriction in the pipework.
