Hmm let me think..

I've had my fare share, far more than what is in my Sig..

My first car after passing my test on 1997 was a 1983 RRC with a 2.5DI ford motor in it, fuking horrible engine mind you.
#2 a 1989 Vm RRC i loved that car she was rebuilt in 2004 and went like nothing else, 9yrs of ownership

#3 1974 suffix C with PAS and a lovely 3.5, that pulled like a train..

#4 1989 Gold RRC with a 4.6 RPI engine in it, went like **** off a shovel.

#5 1991 Plymouth blue 3.9 Manual, i had two..

#6 1983 RRC 3speed auto, dreadful.

#7 1995 Range Rover P38 4.0

#8 1994 Hard dash RRC 300tdi

#9 1989 RRC Overfinch 570TI wish i had kept it!!

#10 SIII Ex MOD

#11 SIIA safari 2.6.

#12 1990 RRC 4.6 that i have left at a mates house, funny thing about this one is i forgot i had it until he reminded me a few weeks ago lol.

The above is all i can remember at the moment, i've had knocking on 35 RRC over the years..

Usually i have 5-6 sat around at a time with only 1-2 working lol

1998 P38 Hse

the 1990 i have forgotten about

A 1987 Xj40 3.6

A 2003 S type R

Also worth noting i almost ended up with a 1996 P38 HSE a few weeks ago, but i refrained!! ;)
 
1985 110 Csw V8 in lovely condition, sold it on for peanuts.:(:(
199-? V8 Disco Lhd, previously registered in Oman, (sh1t hot air con) sold as parts due to tin worm.
1991 200Tdi 90 hardtop. My daily driver/toy/workhorse.
1991 200Tdi Disco, sold on in good order to a twot who has abused it on play sites. (his choice though so tough)
1988 2.4 Vm RRC (Buttercup) my current Sunday car and love of my life.
Honestly can not see me buying another motor. I'm assuming the 90 and Buttercup will see me out between them.

The poll is last 5 years but interesting to hear the full car history. Prior to the P38 I had a Defender 90 since about 1997. A mate rolled it and somehow it caught fire and that was the end of that. I was looking for a replacement but the prices were plain stupid and then I saw the P38 and couldn't believe you could get so much car for so little money. And then the alternator failed before I even got it home ...
 
3 Disco's, all rotted from the rear, Mrs Bagshot on her second Freelander. Now my P38... Convinced its gonna break me down financially I'm sure...

If you want a full history, mine started at the age of 16 when I bought a 1936 6 cylinder DX Vauxhall with which I and mates went from London to places like Oulton park, cost £15 to buy and £25 to insure!
After that, a Commer Cob van, Mini van, doors would not open if parked with 2 wheels on the kerb, then a Hillman Imp van. I then went onto company cars, I had to go buy a car with company cash to take with me to a posting in Africa, all I could get in the time available was an Austin 1100, horrible thing. On leave in the UK I bought an old Mk2 Daimler Jag V8 to take back with me. It soon lost the silencers and ran on straight through pipes, you V8 lovers would have loved it, sold it to the chief of police LOL.
Leaving Ghana, in order to get non convertable currency out, I bought a brand new Renault 12 from Renault Export in Paris, I was able to run it on French plates for 12 months with no road tax after which I managed to sell it at a profit as it had been tax free.
Then it was back to company cars with an Escort 1100, a Triumph Toledo, nice car.
Started my own business and the company bought me a S/H Triumph 2.5Pi I soon converted it to carbs., then a S/H Capri. as the business flourished the cars got better, Fiat X19, an MR2 which I still have, an Escort XR3 good car, then a Volvo 244, a Porsche 944, what a dog, a BMW 323i another dog, then an XJS 3.6, really great car. After that for a change a Daihatsu 4 Track, rough & ready but good for towing my race car. Shut the business and with it went the Daihatsu to be followed by an old Volvo 940 with moon rocket miles from a mates garage, then a Volvo 960 again with high mileage which I kept until I moved to France when I bought Pajero, unfortunately as it was a grey import the French would not register it, then came a Citroen XM estate, a Renault Espace, a Hyundai Galloper then a Nissen Xtrail a total dog of a car, sold it and bought the Transit and shortly after my first P38 for no other reasons than it was cheap and I wanted a good tow car, it has turned out to be a good car.
As you can see if you trawl through that lot, I have only ever bought one new car with my cash.
 
Just the one my 99 P38 DSE, mind you it's almost Trigger's broom. 3 x engines so far and somehow on my journey a garage gifted me a different ( older ) gearbox. Works well though. Planning for head gasket change next year before the usual happenings. Not sure if all my FFR's (all LWB's) whilst serving count - if they do then it's loads hahahaha. Started with a petrol twin tank canvas top in Norway in -45C. One red, one yellow and one black gear lever - blew me away :D Only insulation was horsehair and a few 6mm plywood strips to hold it all in place. F*** it was cold in that FFR!

PS: JLR's
1999: V reg all black XKR - dream car. Did Le Havre to Rochechouart in just around 4 hours (or slightly quicker) ;):D. Destroyed on the M27 after spinning on spilled diesel, made Real Rescues with that one hahaha.
2001: XK8 / XKR crossover. V5 listed as XK8 (as they all were) but it came with XKR front discs and XK8 rears as factory standard. Horrid car, Sherwood green & oatmeal trim. Not a patch on the black one.

Ok if it's not 5yrs.
Learned to drive in Army LWB Series III, did 'car' conversion, afternoon of passing test, in a SWB Series III. Duty driver that night in a really 'posh' one, with proper body instead of canvas, and windows on the sides :eek: So not really owned but as I signed for the buggers, they were mine at that time :D
Then for the next 30 years 'available to me and 'mine' when requested' , every Land Rover in the British and Commonwealth Forces. So does that mean I's had loads?
Not forgetting, on my own dollar, had a Disco for 3yrs before the Range Rover, which spent approx 1.5yrs of that time back with the dealer. Not having been punished enough, I then went on to get the RR :rolleyes::confused:

XKR 1 was 1999 with original nosecone, neighbour reversed into it so I got the face lift nose as a replacement (much nicer in my opinion), the second was listed as, if I remember correctly 1998. Reg was D2ERN. I didn't know that they were listed as XK8's and thought I'd been sold an XK8 that someone had put the supercharged v8 and XKR bonnet onto it :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sold it to we buy any wreck in the end

GR was refering to your FFR's in the Service....

Petrol series 3 FFR LWB I think was the first one (I had no idea back then there were different LR's). Actually I forgot one, the 101FC in 1991 but that was for driving us around. It was the wierdest vehicle I'd ever seen! [They got replaced by Pinzgauer's] I think it was GS as there was nothing but bench seats in the back; followed by 110 Defenders and then the Wolf land rovers. We had 90's but I didn't get one.

I've never driven a civvy LR but the gearbox on our FFR's was geared so that 4th wouldn't give you enough poke to overtake, if you dropped it to 3rd you nearly got launched through the windscreen! Driving trips were a game of slipstreaming past HGV's :D. I could do the Arbroath to Plymouth and (vice versa) run with my eyes shut in the end but it was a long, long trip at 60 mph with a full trailer

@Mukiwa , the reason I asked, is because you keep referring to "FFR", as if it is a land rover model/trim, and I am just curious as to why.
P.s the gearbox on an FFR, is no different to that on the GS.
