A mate of mine from work had a group of his ex squady mates in a Land Rover convoy coming home from camping or bumbding or whatever ex squadies do in the Lake District.
After 20 miles down the M6 the local traffic police pulled them over to the service station police office for a cup of tea. Just while the tail backs from Glasgow died down. :D

Shame they never seem to do that with convoys of cyclists. But I guess the police don't want to put up with a bunch of sweaty lycra clads ranting about bicycles for an hour in the station.

Yea. All that touching each other would put me off anorl.

Hey, you don’t see that anymore do ya.

A little Army convoy doing 40 down the motorway with a little twuck and a few land rovers.

I’d enjoy seeing that as a youf on our way to Rhyl for our annual camping holiday.

Back to the OP..

A reasonable compromise is adapting mini bus type seats with integral inertia belts.

Think Ive still got a couple buried in storage, one of which has been adapted for a tratter wheel arch.

If theyre still there youre welcome to them if youre anywhere near Stroud

Bedford MKs. I have worked on a few, and the civilian version, the TK. Not a bad engine, but prone to issues with the injector shrouds as they get older.

I usually sit at 56 on the motorway even in a big v8 :D

used to hammer it around in the 90 to 100 range and use a lot more fuel :d
