I find that I'm looking for 7th when driving the Kuga on the motorway.On all my cars with 5-speed gearboxes I’ve been wishing for a 6th - although this is only ever when on the motorway...
no. definitely 5th.there may be a underlying fault somewhere ,but even at 40 it seems to labour .a bit in 5thAnything over 30mph and mines in 5th. Even driving along at 30 I have the urge to put it in 5th and will do, but its not very safe cos if I put my foot down the ECU would say NO.
Are you sure you're not trying to put it in 6th

It's 04, Hippo, definitely freelander 1, but it is a high specification edition. There's a thought, would a Freelander 2 box fit into a Freelander 1?

It wouldn't matter what spec it was, even an HSE with every option. There was never a 6 speed gearbox offered. The only 6 speed PG1 available is a kit made Quife, designed for FWD Rover's and it cost almost £5K.
