Hi
The rear axel on my discovery 2 has a leak but not from the hub or brakes I have it off the car and have cleaned it and can see oil coming from around the weld I can not see a crack, but after a few hours a small drip of oil is there, can this be welded up has anyone done this to stop the leak ?or is best to change the axel ?

Cast metal welding is a specialist area but can be done. Alternatively, I would consider drilling into the hole, threading it and putting a bolt in to stop the leak buts that me and I wouldn't always expect people to do what I might.

can we have a picture?

I know what an axle looks like but not your particular axle, it could be porous weld, rusted out diff pan that is weeping near the weld, quite a big lump is an axle and you've not been especially specific about what weld and where it's leaking from.
