Overheated by whitminster village stores

Hi guys does anyone know what could possible be the fault or if anyone has a thermostat for a 300tdi as I have some how broke the plastic lug on the top of mine and it is now firing out steam faster than a Turkish baths.

I have the AA on the way but any input would be much appreciated

If you mean the thermostat, just take it out.

Take the one out the top of the rad & fit this in the thermostat body. leave your header cap off.

you cant by pass it you can bung the hole but it needs to be tight, buy a brass plug to replace it err4686b as you should check coolant level by removing it from time to time
even if you remove thermostat and remove cap it will be pumped out

Replace plastic with brass
For permanent fix

You can buy suitable size fittings from B&Q etc, as they also fit household rads.

replace the plastic ones with brass ones, because as you have found, they fail over time.

Im close and could be there in about 20 mins but doubt ive got a plug the right size

Is what I used to plug mine when it blew a week after buying the 90.

RAC man drove me to B&Q, got one with auseful bleed valve in it.

Ok I ve got screw caps from compresion fittings. Im nt totally convinced theyre the same size but im happy to pop over IF I get a contact number.

It's a male thread you want, 1/2" BSP iirc.

Summin looking like this from Homebase etc.
