Hi guys does anyone know what could possible be the fault or if anyone has a thermostat for a 300tdi as I have some how broke the plastic lug on the top of mine and it is now firing out steam faster than a Turkish baths.

I have the AA on the way but any input would be much appreciated

Take the one out the top of the rad & fit this in the thermostat body. leave your header cap off.

Ok but how do I bypass it and will it cause any damage?
you cant by pass it you can bung the hole but it needs to be tight, buy a brass plug to replace it err4686b as you should check coolant level by removing it from time to time
even if you remove thermostat and remove cap it will be pumped out
 
You can buy suitable size fittings from B&Q etc, as they also fit household rads.

replace the plastic ones with brass ones, because as you have found, they fail over time.
