Oil light on, stopped within a mile as nearly home. Transported to my Landy garage (known and trusted for years)
And it was the oil pump bolt come loose (2002 51 plate with 161000 miles)
He explained what had got damaged, but long story short- new engine required, which is not a real option! (Also the steering box is in need of replacement, so that just nailed it!)
Owned from a year old with 4000 miles on the clock so got my money’s worth I suppose.

Hard luck.

Is there anything to be done, maintenance wise, about the oil pump bolt issue? I mean, not saying you don't maintain yours, but does anyone know of a definite 'fix'?

The oil pump bolt is a known issue, particularly on earlier Td5 engines.
Checking it involves dropping the sump to check its security. LR did release an uprated bolt which has more and different thread lock compound to prevent it coming loose again.

Cheers guys. Not getting one quite yet, but it's in future plans ...
