my 300tdi system was pressurising so I decided to change the head a new one and while I was at it I put new water pump on it. So today when I took it out I stopped and decided to check to see if all were ok and guess what the system was pressurised and when I took the cap off it started to come gushing out with water from the expansion tank any advice would be great since dunno what to do now thanks

Don’t worry, all disco’s cooling systems are pressurised when they get warm, just like any similar engine cooling system in other vehicles on the road.

But, if your interest is in over pressurised systems then there’s loads of threads already on that subject, here is one I picked at random with my search. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/300tdi-pressurizing-cooling-system.184761/
Also a vehicles water pump has no bearing on the coolent pressure, the pump is just for circulation of the coolant. :)

Thanks for the reply but even to the point where you can’t squeeze the pipe and it dumps the water threw the expansion bottle and put water pump on just to make sure water was getting around engine since don’t know when it was changed last

check rad gets hot all over, top hose gets hot

how much gushing, if much its head gasket or cracked block
To the point where I check level in rad it nearly empty since it been pushing it out new head was pressure tested and an erling gasket was used and new head bolts too. Checked block where gasket sits couldn’t see any cracks

blocks crack down the cylinders, not easy to see, a block full of water and bores cleaned of oil often show a stain a day later, but its quite rare

Thats something I need to check then since got it five year ago and after a few weeks of useing it the hg failed so put new hg on and it has been Parked up until last few month

When filling the coolant system, did you bleed all the air out through the top of the thermostat housing.
When you fill the cooling system and then you start the engine with the cap off the coolant header tank can you see bubbles or does the coolant "woosh" out of the top.
Have you tested the thermostat operation, if it's not opening then the coolant won't circulate.

Yeas bled it from their it has a new thermostat in but tested it today and guess what it doesn’t open so swapped it and so far everything seems fine
