On the left in my ever reliable 300tdi 50th anniversary it's lifted with cranked arms and generally in decent condition but it's manual and my left knee aches not helped by its heavy clutch. Now, on the right is a td5 auto that I've recently bought ,fixed and mot'd and I've got a bit of a dilemma.
I reckon that they are worth a similar value as I'd also have to pay any tax on the profits on the td5.
My only concern of the td5 is its complexity, reliability and mpg.
I need the towing capacity of one of these....

I forgotten what a D1 drives like but my td5 was a super motor to drive but the electrical faults
had started so I punted it & the wife wasn't pleased as she loved it.

How good or bad is the body on the 300tdi?

If it’s a rust bucket then go for td5 but if you’ve done all the welding then keep the 300tdi

The 300 is everything I'd want it to be apart from the heavy clutch I did four hundred odd miles in it on Friday and the stop start traffic of the M25 has really made my knee ache even now
