Ugly wire brush wheel and pig tail. I sometime use flap wheel where I can get in but it's noisy and I'm out the front. The drill trigger also means you can get into the little crannies without it jumping out at you at high rpm! Flap wheels can take a fair bit of metal off too

A frame down. I can weld lovely until I'm at a horrible angle lol. The back side closest to driver was a complete pain. I should have chopped more of the floor for better access. Sorry I didn't reply yet, was a kip when it came through and been mental all day, that was very nice, did you have a good butchers and feel as though that is what you are aspiring to?

I know I would, saw a mint RRC today at the shop, was drooling all over it an the poor bloke was nervous of me asking about it until I donned my anorak and commented on it being an LSE

I dream of needle gun and won't do my future military spec without one lol. Yeah I always looks a bit suspect with the dog and in my yellows that I work on car on. People might think I'm from no fixed abode lol

I'm looking to move next year and hopefully will get a compressor then when I have a garage or atleast a lean to! I've watched some needle gun Landy works on YouTube resto and it's so much easier and efficient.

@dieseldog69 the white one did get me thinking. When you see an old 90s car in that condition it's like a time warp. I saw a crx sir that looked factory fresh the other week and it must have been worth a bit. The white on that disco was so cool too where it was clean. Looked like it was one of Escobars henchman.

I'd like mine to be clean like that. What the VW kids would call OEM+. Almost like it was produced by the same people who made the camels. Maybe I'm just dreaming again. Who knows. I think I am going to take your idea on and use small box to lay across the floor and make the insulation/breathing gap.

I sold one of my watches to buy my welder. Ironically I wasn't wearing the watch anymore as was too scared of scratching it and thought I'd get more out of the welder. I miss the watch as it was my first nice one but get far more from my welder clearly!! I could pull off the compressor - I'd prob have to buy a shiny hoop of metal to fit a small finger first though!

How noisy are they? I assume my 1/2" impacts would work with it too.

Any ideas on how these spinning washer bottle bolts come off (the ones with nuts in arch) or will I just have to chop them?

Do I need 50l minimum to be able to paint? Guessing around 10cfm minimum too?

Go for the biggest you can afford. Mine is 150L @14cfm, but CFM open ended drops to about 8. It struggles sometimes.

they are a bugger as I think that the nuts are mounted in the washer bottle plastic.

I thought as much! Either in or under lol. I'll just chop. When I inherited my grandads tools (which are all being used well on the resto) I also inherited many tins of nuts n bolts which we clearly come in handy.

i am going on memory (not a good idea), and I think they are actually moulded into the base of the washer bottle, so if you remove them, you have no fittings .



You can see by the size of the holes, there used to be an insert. The bolts usually seize and rip the insert out .

I thought there were captured threads on the wings?

On mine (its a long time) they were bolted up through the wings into the bottle fittings.
