So the time has come to sell my Series 2a. I have owned it for the last 11 years. It was my first car at 17, brought as a wreck and slowly done up over the years. For the past 5 years it’s been in the barn looking ever more sorry for it self. As I no longer have time to continue with it, I would rather someone else got to enjoy it.
Built in 1962, served in the military for 10 years before being registered in 1972, so it holds its tax exempt status.
It doesn’t currently have an MOT, but with the new MOT rules, it is exempt.
Its in good condition for its age. It needs a few patches welding on the chassis, maybe a hub seal, adjustment to the steering and new fuel tank.
There is a huge list of work done, but I will list what I can remember;
Re conditioned engine fitted about 1000 miles ago.
Brakes, master cylinder and all lines replaced.
Completely re-wired (following original wiring diagram)
New footwells and floors.
Parabolic suspension and gas shock absorbers
New seats
Rear load area cover
Steering swivels replaces
All wheel bearings replaced
Replacement military doors
Swing away wheel carrier
Steering Box replaced
Paperwork for nearly everything.
Bulkhead is in fantastic condition
Rear crossmember is also fantastic
Front chassis legs and cross member replaced about 500 miles ago.
Rest of the chassis is standard for this sort of age. I counted 3 or 4 patches that need doing.
