Evening all, need some advice regarding door locks / fitting. I’ve just bought a pair of early 90/110 doors from the bay with lift up handles and wind up windows (with single outside handle). I think the lock part number is MUC2290. Anyway, the locks seem to be in good condition all be it needing new barrels, what I need to know is what striker goes with this type of lock and does it need drilling to the pillar with bigger/extended holes for adjustment? Also if anyone has this type of door/striker any pics would be appreciated. Thanks all,
Ben.

I don't have any pics but from the parts catalogue:
Fig1 & 2 are the strikers for LU & PB handled doors; I have an '85 build ('88 reg) 90 with LU door handles but the later strikers, so I guess they're interchangeable?

For MUC22290 you need barrel MUC4146. The lock assemblies themselves (MUC2290/91 and MUC6979/80) are NLA.

The early barrels MUC4146 have grooves for two ball bearings (5mm; 13/64'') which are needed to secure the barrel in the holder, they are a right PITA, lots of grease helps hold them in place as you insert the barrel; thread about LU locks here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/fixed-early-90-door-lock-barrel-replacement-problem.320095/

Capo, thank you for such a detailed reply, really helps me out. So your saying is the MUC2290 mechanisms should/do work with the later 90/defender striker? That’s good to hear as I’ve just googled the prices of the striker MUC2959 and they’re just shy of £50 ea with vat

You are welcome :)
The landy is currently undergoing an engine transplant so I can't access it but I know the strikers are the later plastic covered triangle spacer and enclosed catch 4.png rather than the early mushroom knob 5.png , and the lock assemblies are definitely MUC2920/21. You'll need th support bracket etc. MWC1736 6.png for the later striker.
I see that both types are applicable from DVAD7AA270227, DVAC7AA270484 & DVAV7AA271214 so should match up, maybe with some fettling?
For what it's worth, I think the LUH doors look better than the PB, hence my efforts to fix the locks which were knackered on purchase

Well my pb doors are past it, I think the luh ones look better too, plus I feel they’re more secure hence why I was happy obtaining the luh ones instead of pb. As for the strengthening bracket, I can make something that'll do. How come you’re having a new engine?

That is odd as I haven't got the 'trouser belt loop snatcher' but the triangle shaped striker and bracket yet the latches are the early type with LUH o_O
Let us know how it all works out :)
