I have always understood that it was only in the very late Defenders that a relay was fitted. Before that the full current went through the stalk switch with all the well known problems associated with that. Usually solved with a " Boomslang" kit. Now I see that there is a headlight relay in the fuse box in front of the gear-lever. Is this an early upgrade or what ? Mine is a 2004 TD5.
I have bought a boomslang, but maybe not necessary ?

The Td5 defenders have always had a headlamp relay and strangely this used to cause trouble, for example the D2s dont have a relay, the circuit is through the stalk and no common problems with the headlamps at all

Thanks for that. Now my question is- would it benefit from the Boomslang harness ?
i dont know about the benefit as i've never had any problems with the lighting on my D2 with the factory setup others than corrosion in the headlight plugs which i changed to ceramics but i'm sure it won't hurt
