I picked up this little beauty at the weekend...
DSC04071_ra.jpg

She's a 1983 ex-military 2.25 petrol, with a very solid looking chassis and bulkhead, and 38,000km on the clock, but as always there's a few things need sorting, as and when funds allow - mostly little niggles that should be easy (like a non-functioning fuel gauge, reversing light and lighter socket), though I will be fitting an overdrive when I can find one...

Photos in the history also show her with side windows, so I'll refit those when I can find a set of sides with windows already in - I'm reluctant to cut the ones I've got as I understand they are getting rare.

I've got a new alternator on order as I suspect the current one isn't charging quite as well as it should, and there's a tapping noise from cold - I'm told this is likely to be the exhaust manifold blowing slightly?

Cheers

Nick

Nice looking landy. I assume it’s 12v. The tapping noise could simply be the tappers rattling. They do that when the engine is cold. Enjoy

Nice looking beast. Funny int it. I wanted a van back but had to settle for one with windows. No swapsis though. Mine is an 88.

Good luck with it. And stop showing off. Reversing light indeed
:D

Unfortunately a change of circumstances means this is now for sale :( Sadly the desire for a fun Landy has to take second place to the need for something more economical and sensible...

That is a shame, what are you asking for it? Would be well worth putting an advert in the for sale section.

£4200 ono - including a brand new Exmoor trim soft-top, a new alternator, and the spare set of wheels I got from Citizen Kane.

I don't have enough posts to put an ad in the for-sale section yet, unfortunately...

Definitely - I'd keep this one if I could, just don't have the space or the money... Long term plan is to move somewhere with enough space to build a workshop and have a whole collection (I can dream, right?)

think you'll find that is most people on here's long term plan. If I had the space I would have a whole fleet. although two is two too many as far as SWMBO is concerned.

I'm lucky that my wife is pretty supportive - she wants to buy a smallholding in a few years time, if we can figure out a way to afford it - and I figure that would need multiple Land Rovers!
