So 3 years of ownership and my first EAS issue.

I think it’s an air leak but looking for some advice.

Was away at a Wedding over the weekend. When we arrived at the hotel late evening I could hear a hissing from the rear of the Vehcile. It seemed equally loud each side so I’m not sure it’s just one air bag.

Next morning started it up and raised the suspension to extended and left it for an hour and it was fine. Then a couple of us sat on the tailgate for a bit without the engine running and the rear slowly dipped. But was silent.

On start up it levelled itself out fine. But on the way home there was a sudden loud hissing while driving along. It stayed at the motorway position. When arriving home I lower it to entry height.

And now it won’t raise. In fact it’s dropped lower down to the stops.

I can’t hear the compressor working, but Nanocom says it is. Sadly my exhaust also developed a leak over the weekend and it’s now rather loud on tickover potentially masking the noise of the compressor.

I’m not getting any error codes for the EAS.

Any suggestions on how to ID what exactly might be leaking?

The EAS controls just flash the level it’s trying to raise too. I assume the compressor is just blowing air straight out somewhere (at least I hope that is all it is).

Your exhaust has probably melted the pipe running over the back axle
Either that or one of the rear bags has split but the fold was keeping the air in enough to work.
Spray can of soapy water, leave the engine running with drivers door open for 10 minutes to allow the tank to fill. Then close the door and you should hear it hissing and have chance to find the leak unless it's a big one.

As above, could be the bag going or the leaking exhaust might have melted an airline. Sound like you might also have cooked the compressor feeding the leak.

The Nanocom shows rear valves open but the car isn't responding. So no air from compressor or it is leaking out as fast as it s going in.

You can check the compressor output easily enough (see Wammers's How To in the Technical Section). You can force the pump on using Nanocom. Thermo switch might still be cooked though so might not run without diag.

You can also get some Schrader valves and try blowing the bags up with a little compressor and check for leaks with soapy water. Or listen!

As the others have said, leaking airbags, they have a design life of 7/8 years 80K miles, or a melted pipe from the exhaust blow. Most likely the compressor is toast, they don't last long when feeding a leak.

If you need airline and connectors and so forth there's a place in Aylesbury called Activ-Air up Rabans Lane.

Have a chat. They're very helpful and sympathetic towards enthusiasts. At least the people I spoke to were!

If you need a compressor then talk to @kurtjohnson10 as I think he has a spare one he can part with.
