My winch has been off the car for quite some time and I went to put it back on today. However, I was overcome with doubt about which way round the positive and negative leads from the battery go. I'm presuming the blue labeled connection is negative but I'd like to confirm it. Any winch experts care to point me in the right direction?

All the identifying labels have come off long ago, apart from the one on the motor and I can't remember.

EDIT: A bit of research jogs my memory a little. It's a Kingone TDS something or other.

Another EDIT: It was branded Goodwinch.

Are the blue and yellow not switched live from the solenoid with the battery earth connected to the earth post under the motor. I think even if you connect blue and yellow on the wrong posts it only means the winch plays cable out when it should be winding in, so then just a case of reversing them.

Sorted.

Once I'd worked out that the earth goes to the bottom of the motor and not inside the cover it was easy to work out where the live went. Must remember to take photos when I take something apart.
