Do you fancy doing the same study using Mcrebar postings, instead of normal asphalt? ;) :)

They pay naff all. I cannot remember the amounts now but a proper job was something like 10 times as expensive before we added a little for profit. Calc were on my old computer but might have the hard-drive somewhere. IIRC councils like Hertfordshire were very good for posting how many holes were repaired and at what cost each year. Not all councils posted figures. So the data is there is he wants to to see if it is a goer and target particular councils.

I don't know the company or anyone in it, but I think it's such a good idea I'd be happy to approach them, if you can find your old data.
Although I suspect he may already have done it, as he's worked with Gloucestershire and Cumbria.

Managed to replace LH front suspension ball joints. Took the whole day but finally it's done.:)
Unfortunately could not replace the axle shaft oil seal.
Next week end it will be the RHS joints. Must get the correct oil seal for the axle shaft.

Where in the UK are you? You're welcome to borrow my cable for testing purposes if you are passing by Bucks.

Travelled back to work, then made the mistake of paying a man to clean her. Now I ain't saying paying the man was the mistake and I should've done it myself. I mean just cleaning her in general was a mistake. First time in about 4 years, turns out dust and dirt hides a life time of bumps and scrapes. She is really looking her age now. I feel so guilty.

went to my lock up connected battery and it started first time, The car has been in the lockup since late november without being started and without any charger on the battery and it started fist hit I was amazed. There was 1 tyre that was a bit low on air otherwise everything else was working.Tomorrow I will start the other one I hope.

No problem. Just give me some warning as sometimes I have to travel a bit. In London tomorrow.

Purchased the axle seals sometime back expecting to do the ball joints. Once going to fit only realized that it was the wrong seal. Can't remember from whom it was purchased. so far no leaks.
Anyway, I will look at it as I got to change the front disks. Few more bits to get to the axle seal.
Tomcat alan- it's going to be a long wait.:p I can get to the seal within 10 minutes or just continue with diff refill, cheaper.;)

Filled her to brim with petrol then decided to give her her annual car-wash. Stalled in the car wash. Restarted. Stalled. And then it hit me: I was in the oil burner! FF&F. Managed to start again long enough to get out the car-wash. Sniffed the fuel cap - yep, petrol. £110 worth! Then it started to **** it down. Mate came and towed me home. Drained tank, 2 Jerry cans of diesel, flushed through. New fuel filter (had a spare in the shed). Turned her over and she started first time. Brimmed the tank with diesel and then went for a ride to flush it through. No smoke, no drama. Running perfectly. Hoping to f*ck the seals are all OK and I've got away with it. Got enough lawn mower fuel to last years now.

Worry ye not, the wife was filling mine up with petrol for years..... its a wonder the seals didnt go on my pump 5 years before they did....

Fitted the sill finishers I bought off the bay a few weeks ago, perfect fit, easy as.
Really pleased, almost unmarked genuine LR parts for just £40 each, just got to educate the doris that it aint a step.

Replaced the RH suspension ball joints today. Just spent about a half a day.. Noticed that the axle seal is fitted wrong side compared to the other side. Didn't touch as it is not leaking.

Went for a drive to Erskine. Wish that new wheel was here :( It was like driving a milkshake machine (if there is such a thing)
Only bonus was seeing the puppies at Brave Hound :)
