Eventually got my new wheels and tyres fitted.

Bought them back in November, but due to a multitude of reasons I only got them mounted and fitted today.

Kumho MT51 in 255/70R16. Replaced the stock 18” alloys.

Could do with finding some sort of cap centre for the hubs though.

I've got a set of those wheels on my D2, but I made the mistake of getting silver and they went spotty rusty after about 6 months. I should've gone for the black ones as they look much better.

Good chunky tread. What's the noise like on the motorway?

What rims are those? 16" steelies?
Thanks. Have cruised down the road at 60mph and a brief stint at 70mph. With the windows up and sunroof closed I’d be hard pressed to tell if they were any louder than the road tyres I just took off.

Rims are 16x8 steels with about a 10mm wilderness offset than stock. Got them from Paddocks, think they are listed under D2. But p38 has the same PCD and Centre Bore.

Look great what was the cost roughly please?
Got the rims from Paddocks with free shipping. Think they were around £40/rim +-

Tyres I sourced from Camskill. I specifically wanted an MT that would perform better in the mid than an AT. But mild enough to still be nice on the road. I also wanted something with sipes in for wet and winter weather. Think the tyres were around £80-95/each.

When looking I priced up fitting MT’s to my 18” rims. Remoulds where quite aggresive, looked cool and would have been the cheapest. But to get the sort of tyre I wanted it worked out just as cheap to get 16” rims and tyres instead of 18” MT’s.

Good call. Milton Keynes is just a short trip from Billing. Or there are quite a few green lanes in Hertfordshire, just down the M1 or indeed in Northants and Rutland just up the M1.
Yeah I’ll probably take it a few places. Although probably nothing scratchy. I’ve got two other Land Rovers for that.

And the bumpers are still vulnerable on the RR. I posted previously about some HD upgrades.

Testing the tyres out last night I managed to do this. Which I’ll have to tidy up.

Looking good. Fitted the same modular wheels to my P38.
What Nuts are they as I ordered standard and they went rusty instantly so I painted them black in the end but they need a touch up every so often.

Of course when he says he cruised at 60 MPH and 70 MPH he actually means 62 MPH and 73 MPH. ;):D:D
Oi. Where's the ****ty wheels comments you like to tell me about??? :p

I have the MT51’s too. They do howl a bit at around 50mph upwards but the D1 isn’t exactly quiet past that anyway.

OK just for you. Why fit shitty wheels to a nice motor? :D;)

Got General grabber AT2 on mine and must say they're surprising good on the slippy stuff and surprisingly quiet.

@300bhp/ton : got the old bumpers on mine and they don't have that funny plasticy stuff to break!
