Need a new headgasket in bridgwater somerset

hi guys so my freelander landrover 1.8 facelift needs a new head gasket and my garage quoating me over 1k to do it! im not really good with mechanics so dont feel i could do it myself... so what do i do! anyone know any garages in somerset that will do it alot cheaper or anyone know a mechanic that can come out to me. please help

Talk to County Rovers in Taunton, just off Station Road. Good bunch in there.

What is covered in that quote?
Has it overheated?
If yes to the latter, then it'll need a new head which would account for the high quote.

Don't walk away, RUN AWAY! They're cowboys trying to take advantage of a vulnerable female.
The engine in your Freelander is also in tens of thousands of Rovers and MG's and unfortunately has a well earned reputation for blowing head gaskets. it should be a simple job for any competent mechanic and shouldn't be any more than £600 tops.
