Hi all

Just brought a freelander2 08 plate hse td4 I would like to put a tow bar on it that's the easy bit what electrics do I need as I have been told a few stories

Thanks to anyone that can help

Fl2 is plug in, relays added, and then have the software added so the car knows it has a towbar, an hours work for whoever does it, you also need a known working light board plugged in during this time

Now im confused as i have been told if i get a dedicated loom specific for the freelander2 it will pick it up and work ok

Only if it has previously had a towbar on it, I think one in ten might just magically work, so don’t hold your breath, plus try it and then report back
Your best chance is with the proper dedicated loom anyway, if your thinking about splicing, don’t !

FL2 main car electrics don’t like being spliced for trailer socket so go for the kit which plugs in the socket in the rear quarter (either genuine LR or good aftermarket)

Kit needs coding to enable the car to know trailer socket is fitted so it enables the tell tale on the dash, disabled rear parking sensors etc.
