Good evening.
I have some 16" x 8 Et 0 Twisted alloys and have the opportunity for some BFG MO2 tyres. Does anyone have any experiences of tyres of this size on a defender ?
Perhaps you could offer some insight into the feasibility of this specification .

Approx 33/12.5/16 so not massive, I have 37/12.5/16 on mine but with more offset on wheels, so you may need spacers. Or reduce your lock to lock on steering, also will almost certainly require wider arches. In my opinion there are other 33 inch tyres that aren’t as wide that are probably better suited/ easier to accommodate
 
I used to have 305 70 16 on a 16x10 et-35 rim before I sized up. I think an 8” rim is too narrow.

On 16x10 et -35 I needed wheel arch extensions. You may get away with it on those wheels but without a suspension lift you will lose articulation whilst off road.

An 8" rim should be fine, although the smallest allowable, whereas according to BFG a 10" rim is too wide. According to BFG 305/70R16 should be fitted to 8" - 9.5" ( Link (page 3) ). I am aware that this document is for AT's but I could not find one for MT's
 
Thank you for your considered replies, it is a refreshing change from some alternative outlets.
I have rebuilt my Td5 dc on a new Richards chassis and am now setting about making it to my own specification.
I think I may opt for 285/75/16 BF AT KO2 instead, just a tempting deal on the 305s was perhaps clouding my judgement.

I run 265/75/16 BFG at's and cannot fault them. If you go too wide you end up needing other modifications as mentioned above like extended arches and spacers/offset rims. It depends what you are looking for but I wanted to keep things fairly standard.
 
I’ve run 235 85, 265 75, 285 75, 305 70 and now 315 75 16 on my defenders over the years. 285 75 looked great on 8” rims. They filled the standard arches nicely and looked slightly aggressive. They are a good compromise I think. Although I do love my 315 75 muds on right now

These are 285 75 on my td5 110. 8” wheel but if I remember right they were a -35 offset
