Hi All,

Has anyone got any ideas: Have an air suspension fault whereby the whole system is dead and no lights on any of the air suspension controls. It is maintaining ride height and pressure - dare not touch the pressure release valve just incase.

Have checked all fuses (inc the 50amp in the rear)
Have checked relay and is working.
Power definitely going to relay as well.

I suspect Air Susp ECU or maybe compressor. Really trying to avoid paying someone to slap the diagnostics on and charge me £100.

Thanks

Matt

You've had the vehicle a while, therefore I am surprised at your reticence to use diagnostics. Anyone who has an L322 for more than a week knows that they need diagnostics for 98% of problems. As Ant says you can guess until the cows come home, but for £50 ( what my magician charges) you will get an answer.

Thanks for that. Looking at the total lack of power I suspect the ECU. Nevertheless I'll invest in one these

. At £100 per plug in it shouldnt be long before it pays for itself.

Buy wrong , buy twice. Why not just buy the right diagnostics the first time? There is lots of advice on here about which diagnostics to buy, yet you're going off half-cocked buying something that most likely won't do the job.
You're trying to save £100 and instead you'll end up paying hundreds.

P.s the diagnostics all the folks on here advocate start at almost half the price of the Foxwell.

PP.S Don't miss the bit on the Halfords ad that says (please message to confirm compatibility if buying for a specific car) Although their website says Land Rover, it doesn't say which models.

Going slightly off topic @Saint.V8 , @holidaychicken , @myfirstl322 , @ other knowledgeable types ; if I buy Storey's cable, 1 does it plug into my own laptop and 2 do I then need some type of software from him. Or does the software and the cable come together?
When you purchase the cable from him, he will email you a link to download the software and also a license code to put in once you have installed such.

The Software will also install the required drivers for his hardware along with the All Comms software.

You can use your own Windows Laptop, and you'll need to have the latest version of .net framework I think - which is a free download from Microsoft.....but it will tell you all that when you go to install the software.

That scanner. which I've never heard of, seems to be massively cheaper on ebay.

I had a similar fault on my 2004 TD6, and the diagnostic tool I have identified it as a front suspension sensor. My local garage fixed it, using instructions I found online to reconnect the sensor. His (expensive) diagnostics couldn't reset it, so he spent extra time checking all the connections. He brought it back, still faulty, I reset it with my scanner and it all came good.

If you are OK with computers and soldering, I can't recommend this enough for the price. It's an ebay Chinese v1.4 PA soft BMW scanner, and it cost under a fiver after they refunded half the cost when I complained about the virus on the CD and the poor soldering inside the connection unit.

@gold rover ,

I am not a guru,

At best I hand the toilet paper to the bum wiper wot wipes the guru's bumole.

How's your Jalopy?
That's why I said 'knowledgeable types', cos you were in the mix :p;):D I know you're the toilet paper giver, but you know what they say about stuff sticking :D
The Golden Girl is still with the doctors. Hopefully getting her back this afternoon, if not it'll be Wednesday . They have said what they're doing to her but I don't want to write the wrong thing. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be major. I'm now off to bow at the feet of the RR gods, and say 5 Hail Vogues, in case my last comment angered them!

The icarsoft tools seem to be doing well as a relatively cheap Range Rover diagnostic. It’s one thing reading faults it’s the clearing that can stump the cheaper and sometimes the more expensive kit.

I was thinking of something to do both. The guys at Gibsons are great and Ali my magician is also great. However, the garage is miles away and trying to get home is an adventure. Whilst Ali is a busy man and can take at least a week to get a free moment.

My point, which may not have been too clear, is that for the price, my possibly pirate BMW scanner will show and clear faults on my 2004 td6. Just needs to be set to think it's looking at an E53 (BMW X5). There's plenty of info on the internet about checking the internal links are correct, and it works fine with my W7 laptop. Normal price is under a tenner, but there is a wait for it to arrive from China. My local garage's very expensive general purpose tool couldn't clear the fault indication or revitalise the raise lower lights.

It has been invaluable while I save up for the Gap IID tool.
