Recently my drums have been stuck when cold / dragging and heating up after a run. I got new shoes thinking that was the problem.
So today I had time to strip them down and replace the shoes. However when I took the drums off, one of the shoes on each side had a bolt from the back of the hub with a clip holding it to the backing plate, and the other shoe was hanging loose.
Having not tackled brake shoes since the 90's I couldn't remember if this was right. The shoes looked like they had plenty of wear in them, so I bodged together a couple of nuts and bolts to hold the other shoes to the backing plate. Put it all back together, took for a run and all seems fine.

Where do I source new clips etc?

I've attached a photo, the right shoe had a clip holding it and the left doesn't.

Have I fixed it ? Or just done something mental? Hahaha

Had a quick search and found a few retaining pin clip kits for about a fiver, they have 4 pins and clips in the kit. so will order some and replace the bolts I've put in. Think I've just answered my question.

After reading stories on here of brake failure, when I did my rear brakes I ordered the pack of clips and also the pack of new springs.

Mine looked a lot different to your setup. Must be the MY01 changes to the brakes.

While you’re in there, wire brush that handbrake lever (bottom/middle of pic), give it a few drops of oil, and work it back and forth with a pair of pliers. That’ll help with the sticking.

Lift the shoes off the backplate a little and clean off the raised bosses they sit on. Dab on a smear of copper grease.

Roughen the shoes and inside of drum with 240 grit sandpaper. Take out the rust lip on the drums.

Took it for a decent run today and all fine with the brakes, but obviously will replace the pins and clips.

Driving home on the motorway was a different story. Doing about 65 then loss of power, plumes of black smoke on acceleration and intermittent engine light came on dash.
Stopped and popped the bonnet to find a massive rip in one of the turbo hoses. Taped it up with some duct tape to make it home.

I've got a full service kit in the garage waiting, so will order new hose kit and do it all at the same time

Did it go with a bang mine did . just replace the one that's gone for now it probably the one on the right.
Change the rest as and when.
Make sure the pcv filter is changed and egr and inlet manifold are clean they are why the rubber's fail . to much oil deteriorating the rubbers

More of a whistle then lots of smoke, and a hell of a lot of oil sprayed in the engine bay. As you look at the engine it's the left hand hose that has split, near the top.

Its amazing how much oil floats about in them pipe's it does sound like a clogged. Engine breather their only cheap are you up to changing it . I take it for granted that everyone is just because they own a 4x4 .
Its straight forward . but while its off you ideally need to wash all the plastic air intake. And egr at the same time
