Okay guys, this may sound daft as ****.

However i've had my 2a since October, by some grace of god i've never had to use full beam headlamps, which is lucky as hell since i have no idea how to use them, or even if i have them.

Were what would be considered full beam today fitted to series 2a landys? My headlight switch has 2 positions, side lights and headlights. Nothing that could be considered full beam as such and from what i can see, my little blue main beam light jewel doesn't light up, if it does i didn't notice it.

I also have a third switch which i assume is after market and thus far, i cannot figure out what it's supposed to do. So it's possible that it's just unconnected and once had a use. Pic included. Left is wipers, middle is sides/front lights and right is a wild stab in the dark

So basically:

Was a fullbeam/foglight standard on a 2a
If so how does it get engaged?

If not then i'm considering getting a door mounted spotlight and running that to the third switch.

Cheers all for any info.

There should be a floor mounted dip switch just to the left of the clutch pedal.
The third switch on the dash is probably the instrument panel light switch, why do they have them? Only God knows and possibly James Martin...

On the floor?! Okay thanks, that's interesting. I'm not at my landy atm, at work 30 miles away.

It's not this is it? I just assumed that was some random piece of metal. My own ignorance i guess.

Foot operated?

Post must have crossed. Photo is fine.
Yep that piece of metal is for you high beam.
It's presses down & locks on, press again to turn off.
Happy flashing ;)

Yup,that is the dip switch ,gives your left foot something to do when you drive at night.:) Just about all cars had it there at one time.I think it was better too.

can Anybody tell me how They
made this pedall Swich, Original
on The LH Drive Version?
I have in Switzerland a Serie2 and there is no Sign it ever was down there!

I use several different vehicles on a regular basis including the Series. I can swap form manual to auto and 4 to 5 speed without any difficulty but the floor dip defeats me. Annoying thing is I used to drive Jaguars that also had a floor dip but just I can't seem to train myself not to grab the stalk. Not good news when you look at the cost of fixing a TexMagna.
