Hi all,

I was a bit gutted to see that my "removable" (it isn't - I don't have the key!) tow hitch is only rated at 150Kg.
Are there better ones? Would a bolt-on one from Hellfrauds be any better?
Or are there betterer options?

Sorry yes and yes. Doesn't seem very much to me.
I've also read that they can detach when worn, and really should be removed when not in use (which I can't) so I should really change it.

Mine was jammed on to my Disco 3 - it's not too hard to remove but as loads of them get nicked I don't want to post "how to steal a tow bar" instructions. Consensus seems to be to fit a fixed tow bar (once you've got the old one off). I bolted a security plate to mine and am happy with it. PM me for the eBay contact if you are interested.

Where have the other replies gone, mods?
There may have been a minor dispute because someone thought it strange that I was asking a question I didn't know the answer to, but in your over-zealous censorship you seem to have removed some valuable replies as well!
What gives? Is this what LandyZone has become?

I did reply and will do again.
You can make a plate that bolts under the removeable toball and effectivelt locks it into place, this prevents the ball dropping out and johny scrote trying to nick it, once fitted slather the thing in grease to deter the most hardened toe rag.
I made mine form some offcuts of steel using a grinder fitted woth 1mm slitting disc, quick and quite easy to do.
Use nylocks to make it harder for scrote boy to remove.
