What engine is in your new L/R...if its an old 2.25d dont go mad with large dia tyres....it alters the gearing...a 2.25d may struggle
205x16 are a similar dia to the std 600x16 SWB tyres.

I have old type series rims...took out my tube and put them in the bin years ago and fitted tubeless tyres...never had a problem...some will say not suitable.

My mate has done the same think...both had years of trouble free motoring.

I use 205x16 on my SWB by the way.

Not certain, but I think later Series 3 ran 7.50x16s on both SWB and LWB.

The old 6.00x16 were a very good tyre on an 88inch, but I hesitate to recommend them now, because they are hard to come by and expensive.

Still Can get 600x16 but are remoulded.£70.chap in Birmingham had these & fitted to rim.
Run these on our series1 tube type
Most Landrover rims too wide for these.

That is interesting, and good to hear.
I have run remoulds on all my Series, and my Ninety, and never had any problems with them at all.
I would be wary of them on a high performance vehicle, always used to get new for my V8 Disco, but I can't see remoulds will be a problem with sub 60 mph vehicles.

For something like this I would give Beartown tyres a call, they make a lot of remoulds and are UK based, have reasonable prices.

They are at a lot of UK Landie shows as well if you can get to one.

Cheers

Sub 60 for remoulds?

Don't worry speedo is broke :)

my s3 diesel has 7.50's on wolf rims doesn't struggle at all. well it struggles to get above 55 but it does that with any tyres

why is the 2.286 diesel referred to as 2.25, surely if rounded it should be 2.3?

Thats exactly what i got from Ripon 4x4 last October, £40 each wheel with nearly new GG tyres on. Series now drives soooo much better and the steering feels lighter!!!!!

There's 205/16 remoulds on eBay for £46 each including delivery so think I am going to go for them. We won't be using it much on road so these should be fine as they are big knobbly ones. Lol.

Norrie.

235/85/16 bfg a/t on defender steel wheels tubeless is what I'm looking at getting

I had that dimension on my Series (broad wheels), but I thought my car looked like a German Shepherd puppy with too big paws... :) So, when one of the tyres packed it in, I swapped them all. But, each to his own!

Hi there, steering feels lighter, you’re running General Grabber 205/80/16 on a 5” or 5.5” rim?
