Which battery do you have?

Landrover original battery: mine lasted over 13 years in my defender and is still being used as a caravan battery, I replaced it with another genuine landrover battery.

Like above, biggest you can fit in box, with the highest AH and CCA numbers, I’m gonna be buy a varta with 920CCA soon for my project, that and 50mm^2 cable she should start fine

I know batteries dont often go wrong in the warranty period, but be aware that any internet battery seller will require you to ship the battery back to them for warranty purposes, whereas you can go to halfords and buy one and any issues just pop in there and get it sorted asap.
I will never buy another battery from them, its not so much the money rather the principal.

What you need to go searching is the battery 3 digit code, many landrovers took the 069.

plus 1 , also many couriers won’t accept batteries due to the acid and also it’s sending it back to them at ur own expense

next time will get a 019 yuasa battery , would never buy an exide again

I had Red top + Yellow Top in my Disco (miss it alot!) but I could never work out why they never had the same big numbers (ie) Ah and CCA) but as Allan above they certainly did the job when in minus temperatures?
Anyone know how they come to work better even with smaller capacities?
The point above (having to return even mail order) is a good one so 'Halfrauds' do a good range in Yuasa (well rated) and 2 people I know had to return them within guarantee periods.
Hallies wanted to test them but no quibbles - new battery and new period of guarantee so fair play to them on this occasion.....
Saving for a Red for my 90 cos they tend not to be so wide and long but taller iirc..

Whatever you get have a look at eurocarparts ebay shop. They deliver for free or you can pick up locally, also if there's a problem you can also take it back locally.
I was 3 years into a 4 year warranty with the disco battery when it started to fail and they exchanged it there and then.

Great stuff. Immgoing to replace the earth points on the battery and starter as well as the + lead. What would be the best cables to Go with? Hopefully with a new starter, battery and cables it should start nicely

Any cable so long as its rated high enough, the important bit is how you join it to the terminals.
Best way is to crimp it and not with a hammer either!

No - I crimp and solder, with heatshrink if possible. If you sand the corrosion off old blackened copper conductors, it's still possible to get a perfectly reliable joint by soldering - and that's using LUCAR connectors!

hi i have twin batteries in mine but the agm absorbed glass matt battery is awsome much better than a full acid liquid filled one

i recently fitted a split charge t max system in mine , did fit a leisure battery , not agm though

i believe however i can’t fit an agm battery as i have a smart alternator that charges up to 16 volts

That hydraulic crimper looks useful. I might have to order one of those along with the cables.

What's the best place to order connectors and wire? If I'm going this far I might as well make sure I'm getting good solid connectors.
