I got an EAS block & pump. It was old, but almost identical. Difference being the pump has shorter wires on the older model...

Anyhoo, I did EVERYTHING inc "O" rings, pump seals, piston barrel, new NRV's and whatnot. I even used red grease!

Anyway, it works except it doesn't!

I am clearly doing something wrong with the EAS Unlock Suit as it all works and I set up the height and it all worked. However... HOW DO I exit the software?

I know, stupid question, but whatever I do, it seems to not like it...

Oh, and I rather think I found why I got the block for free as it wasn't happy when I cam back forty minutes later and found the front left was substantially lower than the rest of the car, so I imagine either a leaky pipe (possible) or a leaky valve on the block (more probable as the donor vehicle had been converted to coiled metal  ).

So, the question is, do I simply donate a good valve from my original block, or simply use the 3 new NRV's from this block into my own block which has been rebuilt, but was lacking NRV's....??

I find this old (rebuilt) block to be slow in rising up at the front (rear is quick though) but again this could be attributed to the front left valve although a scan shows no faults found...

Any previous experience called upon and advice duly thought of & balanced!

Thanks all :)

NRVs cannot cause a corner to drop. Only a leak on the bag, the pipe to it from valve block, the small o'ring at base of solenoid seat to block or the solenoid seal to seat can cause a corner to drop.

Ahh, I see... No, what I meant was, my block was recently done, but I didn't have NRV's... So I plan to take them out of this block to place into mine. My block never caused any droppage so I am blaming this new block. It's caused George to be slow to rise, she drops the rear 1st on occasion and although most of the time the rear comes up 1st, the front takes an age. My block didn't do any of that, but there was hissing which I attributed to the NRV's...

What would cause a slow rise at the front? The rear comes up like someone kicked it's ass

That depends how much air pressure is left in the tank after lifting the rears. Don't forget the front is a lot heavier than the rear.

Therein lies the crux...The boot and back seat are laden with about 150kg of disco gear, plus the weight of some bits & bobs plus the LPG tank (full) so probably another 50kg right there and when I'm sitting in, another 500kg lol :p

Seriously though, an extra 200kg in the back and she's still up like a shot. Goes down sweet though! So I guess we could perhaps be looking at a leak in the pipes where they go in or one of the valves (mechanical, perhaps) or maybe an "O" ring isn't happy...

Thing is, this "new" block sat in the kitchen (in it's black plastic housing with lid on) and I greased everything with a smear of Red Rubber Grease using a small artists paint brush. I'll set her up (suns out again so off out....) and see if I get a leak using my patented (not :p ) spray on water & soap bottle and look for little bubbles.

So if there is no obvious bubbles from the pipes (themselves & airbags are fine, I know this as she's sat on valves for past couple of months or more and never goes down) or airbags, I need to go into the block again or is there an easier way??

It's not ideal, but I don't mind stripping it down again.

Ok, came out and she was as I left her last night, on her arse! Fired up and 3 of the four EAS lights are on.

Plugged in the Unlock Suite and one fault found, 0: FL signal incorrect. I'm assuming that is from the height sensor? But there were no faults last night so I'll ignore it for now.

I'll keep plugging away. Next is the calibration blocks, but I checked the actual figures and I was in the ballpark.

Anyway, I'll be back...

If the old block was known good then I'd swap the NRVs over.

Yes, that's the plan bud! I finally sorted out the lights, it seems the reason for the slow rise was a leak at the blue pipe connection to the pump!:eek:

I swapped pumps, but I think my pump has a loose "flywheel" as it vibrates like a dick...;):p Easy fix...

Anyway, I looked out of the window earlier and I am convinced the left front has dipped again... If it's on the deck tomorrow, I will simply do the NRV swap. I "could" swap the front left valve, but I "know" the NRV's need done so better the devil I know.

The "new" block came from a car that had been put on springs and I think this is why! I mean, it came off a 99 car so I guess the info we have now wasn't so easily available back then... Internet and whatnot being still in its infancy in the early to mid noughties.

I will remove the FL valve and see what I can see, but it's the only one causing hassle and the pipework is mint with no leaks.

Live and learn :)

As stated in post#2 NRV's do not cause corners drop. Do the soapy water test with the solenoid coil removed so you can see leaks around the valve itself. However Front Left is underneath the block so you will have to remove from housing first !!

NRV-1 is used for filling the tank from the pump
NRV-2 feeds tank pressure to Inlet valve when raising
NRV-3 opens when exhausting from corners, but is mainly there to stop pump applying pressure to wrong side of exhaust valve.

Indeed, my old block was pissing air and I assume this is what caused my problems in the old block! Hence I am taking the brand new ones off the "new" block and onto the old block as I know the block was otherwise fine. Then I can strip the new block to see what went wrong. It's entirely possible I made a booby with the FL valve "O" ring... I will report back in due time :)

Ok, the FL valve was nipped! I even know how it happened... I was being rushed by er indoors on Christmas Night so since the last two were the underneath valves, I must have nipped that particular "O" ring

I have spares.

Meanwhile, I robbed the new NRV's and placed them in my old block. I also noticed the small metal retainer that stops the pipe from popping off (the one going to the air tank this time was missing so robbed it off the "new" block...the one with the dodgy FL valve). Did all the necessary and she's up and running :)

So, now I need to search for the wee round metal retainer thingy... Anyone got one?

Collet? Talk to @kurtjohnson10

which one :)
the 4mm or 6mm or 8mm collet :)

Hi Kurt, it's the 6mm (I replaced that particular line after my burst exhaust melted it). I also need a set of NRV's.... However, my problem right now is lack of cash :(

I get 420 quid per month at the moment so my next "loan" (seriously, I got a 7600 quid bill from the CRU for money the govt had paid me, yet up to that point I'd received fuck all  so my monthly payments are simply a loan :( ) is handed over 2nd March.

How much inc postage to IV2 please? :)

May I just say, it was simply brilliant and soooooo satisfying to go out in my car with an EAS system that functions correctly :cool::cool:

I deliberately put her on full height then went round town. She didn't buck up & down like before, which was good. I didn't get above 30mph until I went towards the main A9 and I watched with satisfaction as she went to normal ride height. So I gave her the beans on the dual carriageway and she went to "motorway" height. Then I came back and she went back to standard height again.

How pleasing is that when it's been "off" since last year? :):)

Did aw me sen an orl as they say on here :D:p

I can't do it FOC mate, I really cant! :(

Even a token would be better... Besides, she's all arse over tit again :(:(:(:(

I'm happy to PM you, but at least take something!

Anyhoo, George is up to her old tricks again  Soon as she leans over, she's flashing the lights to climb from standard to high! Also, soon as I slow down, like tonight, had to stop at temp lights and she started flashing "up" at me! Up she went and away I went with a worry....

I got a few miles down the road and 1 mile from home, all 4 lights on but no 35mph (I think I disabled that with the EAS Unlock Suite). However, she's still at standard height.

Now, I have a theory. I can't imagine the sensors telling the system the car has dropped just because she's leaned over on a bend or roundabout so I think it could be an EAS computer (ECU) problem?

Also, I heard the pump running earlier when I was under the bonnet (as you do on a 38...) as well as one of the valves clicking on & off for a long long long time.

I plugged in my airline tyre inflator jobbie and let some air out, the pump was on in a flash, so I take it pressure sensor works fine. However, the pump was already hot so had clearly been running, but why?

My new plan is to rebuild the valve that was leaking then re-rob the NRV's and try all over again

I can't seem to win at life o_O

Think it is a soft fault. Try checking the plug where the driver pack connects and also the connector behind the kick panel.

Is that the small rectangular sealed unit on the valve block, approx 3x5 inches or so? I know the plugs are dry as a bone, but it's worth a go.

However, it may well be the connections behind the kick panel (I'm guessing left side) because my cabin filters got wet, I dried them, but they are getting that way again and I suspect the covers may be slightly twisted and the seals shot. That's an easy fix, but my guess is water has crept in and it may explain the sudden loss of Cruise Control. All I did was disconnect the bloomin thing to get the EAS block out. So it is entirely possible that the white (I think they are white) plugs had some degree of corrosion and the disconnect lost what little signal there was...

It was like when my drivers window stopped all of a sudden, there was power going to the out station, but not enough amps... I guess this could be the same and that may also explain why I was having such a hard time with the EAS Unlock Suite! The signal was running through the OBD socket, so soon as I unplugged, it couldn't trace the signal proper

This is entirely hypothesis but I can see why it could be the cause.

Grrrrrr, you may be elevated to genius status...:D Watch this thread ;)
