got a slight rattle on acceleration sounds like it's from under the middle of the car could it be the cats 4.6 p38

The cats usually rattle most on idle / low rpm as the pressure of the gasses flowing through the exhaust pushes anything loose against the next firm thing. If you lie under it and tap them with a rubber hammer you'll head them rattle.. can thump it with your hand. . But only when cold !

There's a heat shield above the centre box. That often comes loose on mine it's tack welded to the box I don't recall if there is a bolt on shield above that. On the classic it's bolted over.

It may be the centre box is starting to break down inside. They get a fair amount of moisture from the exhaust gases but not heated as much as the cats to dry out. Centre boxes tend to rot from the inside out.. like the rears

As its coming from the middle I would say a loose cat-brick as I had this on mine.
Having fixed that with a new CAT (Ouch), a few weeks later a loud clatter started under the hood. Suspected the expanding concertina joint in the RH bank exhaust manifold. Bought a 2nd-hand replacement and that was worse.
Turned out there was a defective gasket on the original manifold; replaced that and put the orginal manifold back on and it was all quiet on the Western front.

These vehicles really love to test your patience, and your wallet.

Still can't trace this rattle it's not the cats been under the car and banged them or the heat shield its more like a clicking noise on acceleration but not all the time
