Have you arrived yet? If so I expect the weather is cracking. Gorgeous here, clear blue sky and sunny. Snow still great condition.

This will look sh@t cos camera can't detect gradients with all the white. This starts on top of Valeta peak about 3.3km above sea level. It's a thrilling, steep, red run, but you can't tell. :( Not far for you to here, very cheap introduction to skiing for you and the Mrs. :)

just watched the video - that looks amazing - great shots - what speed are you getting up to there?

The views are epic from up at the top. You can easily see the Med and often across to North Africa. I didn't clock that run, probably up to 45mph. Fastest I've clocked this week is 52mph. It's a nice adrenaline rush :)

And an easy leg breaker! Lol. Look awesome

Think he was a bit faster but as always - at the least expected time the worse accidents happen

The thing is with adrenaline is, it is addictive, and Schumi must have had a very high tolerance.
He was off piste and zooming between rocks when it happened.
Never been sure about snow sports, I used to go surfing a lot when I was younger, but water is softer than snow, and much softer than rocks.

Adrenalin is great, the problem is when the rush wears off but you are still taking the same risks. Complacency can kill.

Always used to reckon in Skydiving people start to get complacent about jump 250 ish....then they will get a sudden wake up call....:p:p

Cheers

Expect that's what Michael Schumacher must have said! :(

Be careful! ;):)
I'm not sure how fast he was going. He was off piste though, so you are taking your own chances doing that. The best time to do some fast skiing is first lift up when the pistes are clear. Or, if you know of a decent red that's not frequented. You still get idiots trying it amoungst other skiers though.

Definitely, like any addiction, the more you get, the more you need.

I remember reading about a chap who got so hooked on the thrill of skydiving, he actually ended up cutting some of his own parachute lines.

Water is hard if you hit it fast.
That might be a reasonable speed, but I ski within my ability. It's considered etiquette to do so. It's usually young males who don't do this, end up out of control and causing serious injury, normally to others.

 What, to make it scarier? Is that addicted to adrenaline or just not right in the head! There's so much more to skiing than going fast, anyway. It's good to do it every now and then as it boosts your confidence and ability, when going slower. Same as taking on steeper gradients makes the ones you were doing so much easier.
For me, a perfect run is gliding down a wide, open piste, edges cutting perfect curves, sun shining and amazing scenery fleeting by. Bliss.:)

Or not as it may be - but I did see some stunt guy jump with no shoot recently - which amazed me as on the route down - there was no backing out! Excellent planning I think - crazy stunt but excellent planning
