Freelander Rear Nearside Door window regulator

The rear nearside door window regulator cable snapped and so I took out the old one replaced with a new one. No problem. Ensured the galvanised metal bracket that pushes the window up was set to the bottom of the regulator , tightened bolts, reconnected electrics and let window drop down. Tried the upswitch and the regulator bracket moves up but does not seem to push the window up! I am happy the electrics are fine but something is wrong here with the mechanics of how the window is moved by the bracket. Can anyone advise? I have really struggled with this one.
 
When you wound the cable on the drum, did you make sure the cable position on the drum was correct for position of the slider? I set the slider dead central because it's easy to determine the cables central on the drum.
 
Hello, Yes I did al that but I kept looking at it and using a torch noticed a used bolt lying down inside the door skin. I had fastened the regulator with 3 bolts and then with the torch saw an empty thread in a plate that was directly behind the galvanised bracket on the regulator. The bolt I found was a perfect fit and was clearly the original bolt that had connected the window glass to the old regulator and had fallen out at some point. So when I stripped out the old regulator I only undid 3 bolts not 4!
It now works a treat. It is as always a learning curve. My next bout will be with the back door glass which is now problematical. Thanks for your thoughts on the issue. Peter

Glad it's sorted. The tail door mechanism is the same design as the side doors. However there are more cables and it's all bigger. But if you did a side door ok, then the tail door is the next stup up the learning curve. ;)
 
Thanks for your confidence! I am somewhat side tracked from my Freelander by my 1959 ferret scout car! 4 litres of rolls Royce engine! Hope to fuel it up next week
 
I've got a Ferret Scout car too. The paint work is a bit tatty and the axles aren't great, but it's not for sale. I've handed it down to my son to enjoy...
