Hi everybody I'm in Oklahoma USA and have just purchased a 1996 Land Rover Discovery with a 5 speed manual transmission. That's a little unusual here, mostly autos. My first Land Rover but I do have a 1980 Rover SD1. I bought the Land Rover 1350 miles away sight unseen and flew out and drove it home. Looks like a good place to help me keep it running!

Welcome to LZ, Nick. :)

Should be a nice motor, I would prefer autobox, but they are a rarity on British built vehicles until recently.

I guess we all want whats not available. As for the drive when I was in the middle of no where at 10 deg F I was having doubts. It had been driven about 500 miles in the last 10 years. 113000 miles total showing

Plenty of life in that yet. :)

I do have an automatic, just not in a Landrover. Historically, there was little demand for auto in Britain, due to high fuel prices. Now the autos are more efficient, tastes are changing, but ti takes time.
